The color of this beer is clear amber with a golden hue. The carbonation is lively, but there is only a thin, quickly dissipating head on the surface. Toasted grains, caramel malt, and some hints of darker roasted malts can be found in the aroma. It smells and tastes strong like an altbier, but not in an alcoholic kind of way; it is more of a deep maltiness. The flavor is roasty caramel malts with some darker malt flavor hiding in the background. The finish is short and dry, but has some butter toffee flavor to it. The overall flavor of this beer is somewhat sweet with just a little bit of bitterness to create a balanced flavor. This beer has a medium body and an average palate. Overall this is a pretty good beer. It is better than most Amber Ales, but somewhat lacking as an Altbier...
