Oversweet and bourbony and a little stuffy at first, bitter dark cocoa and molasses. Mellows and improves as it settles, allowing the sweetness to fade a bit from the intro, and bringing the cocoa to the fore, but also introducing deeper shades of complexity that i look forward to discovering next time around.

CPLYFO 09. Bomber. Pours a deep dark brown almost black with a nice beige head. Toasted dark black cocoa powder aroma, dark chocolate candy bars, and hints of roasted barley- light phenolics, ok fruity esters- raisin, and apricots- smells toffee and sugary sweet. Big chocolate flavor, toffee, molasses, fruity , light doughy yeastiness, slight acrid burnt taste, but fairly sweet overall.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours a deep dark brown with tan head. Aroma of dark roast, some tang, candy sugar. Flavor of some dark roast, faint tart, some candy sugar. Mouth feel is medium-full body with low-medium carbonation. Overall, not bad at all....could have done without the faint tartness...

Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a thin, spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and fresh oak with a touch of grape candy. Body starts with a nice fullness and good fresh oaky complexity with a hint of light fruity tartness. Finishes smooth and slightly warming with some lingering dark chocolate. A nice strong porter.

2008 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a deep brown body and a light brown head on top of that. Dark fruits in the aroma with frozen (chocolate dipped) banana, toffee, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is soil, coffee, dirt, vanilla, chocolate, candi sugar, cotton candy, and woody with a sweet and boozy finish. A bit thin on the mouth with a decently strong alcohol burn.
