| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Oct 22, 2009 $8.49 for a bottle; I took the chance and OMG this is fucking delicious. One of the most distinctive beers or this or any style I can remember. On the flavor is some kind of caramelly, toffee-ey, sugary-sweet (without being cloying) character. Like oak-aged cherry is in here as well; cheating off the description here, I can readily see a cherry-vanilla thing as well, not unlike a soda spiked with that flavoring. I could even see the banana aspect as others here have described; it’s perhaps like the flavoring used in a fruit smoothie, quite breezy for lack of a better word. And it goes down as smooth as silk. Gets knocked down a peg for no head-retention. A very special beer; just too bad it’s priced so damn high.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 1, 2009 22 oz. bottle. Pours a medium beige head, of good duration, over a reddish brown (SRM 35) clear body......nose is cherry, coffee, chocolate....taste initially is cherry, chocolate, then coffee, vanilla, later a bit of terpene harshness, sweet throughout.....mouth feel is medium to heavy, tiny bubbled carbonation makes for a creamy sensation. This is a bit too sweet and the cherry flavors a bit too prominent. A really great Baltic has a lighter sweetness, and although present, the fruity characteristics are more subtle. The appearance and mouth feel of this are almost perfect. Ughsmash (4025), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2009 2009 bomber. Poured deeper brown with an easily-resuscitated tan head. The aroma picked up tart oak and chocolate-covered cherries upfront, with a little oud bruin flair.. blended chocolates, mocha, and vanilla provided malt support.. brown sugar and honey rolled in as it warmed up, along with some a dark spices.. seems like they threw everything in here, and it worked. The flavor was centered around brownie-like chocolates, with lots and lots of complementary malts to back it up (coffee, molasses, and vanilla beans come to mind).. grated cherry skins, char, and mild smoke accented.. the oak was most apparent around the finish, giving a dry, tart impression. Medium-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. actually somewhat of a slick feel.. dry and grainy overall.. the vanilla addition worked for the most part, but became cloying near and through the finish.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 26, 2009 Pours a dark brown with small head and light retention. Smells slightly nutty and fruity with a definite hint of alcohol. Thick syrupy body with light cherry and vanilla flavors (obviously), alcohol, and ends with a cherry flavor. Bold body with a medium level of carbonation. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 21, 2009 22 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, body with a small fizzy light brown head that runs to a thick ring and a small island. The nose has lots of licorice and burnt caramel with some burnt roasty malt and candied dark fruits. More than anything I’m tasting burnt rubber though, not the licorice and caramel that I wanted. The rubber taste lingers on the finish as well. The overdone alcohol doesn’t help things out either. Thick and viscous body with a clingy coating finish. Fine fizzy carbonation. This one just didn’t grow on me at all from the first sip. This was pretty hard to finish. DuffMan (2756), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 18, 2009 From the bottle at The Big Pour Beer Festival in Scottsdale AZ. Very dark brown, heavy looking pour. Figgy, fruity, treacle and spice aroma. Incredibly port-like flavours, loads of fig jam, cherries, vanilla, leather... crazy good stuff! | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2009 Dark brown, thin tan head. Nose of cherry cola, barrel-like vanilla, chocolate, and thick malt. Flavor has more of the same, vanilla and chocolate leading with the cherry being a little more extract-like than the nose. Super creamy body, decent, tart cherry finish. The fruit is surprisingly strong here and the balance is pro, but I think the cherry takes a little away as my favorite BPs have more malt and are generally more complex. sjmiller05 (13), Colorado, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Purchased a bomber at local store. This beer pours a dark brown almost black. The smell of cherries and dark chocolate makes your mouth water with anticipation. The taste is delightful with hints of cinnamon, brown sugar, and cherries. This is a great dessert beer and is fantastic on a cold crisp day or evening. ksurkin (382), Norfolk, Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 17, 2009 22oz bomber, 2009 edition, from south bay. pours a deep, dark brown, damn near black, with a one-finger, cola colored head and great lacing. aroma is wonderful with huge cherry notes of all varieties (bing, black, marachino), smooth vanilla, ripe banana, red apple, oak, dark chocolate, and a hint of brandy. flavor is excellent as well with tons of dark chocolate covered cherries and bananas (almost like a banana split), licorice, dark roasted malts, and smooth, vanilla and oak with hints of smoke and toffee on the back end. palate is velvety smooth, rich, and mildly carbonated with a lingering, ever so slightly tart cherry and roasted malt finish. overall, one of the most unique and delicious baltic porters out there.
