Clear mahogany, with a thin light brown head that lingers a little. The flavors are attacking my mouth—couldn’t smell hops but now I know they’re in there. Not as much in the flavor as in the mouth, where it also carries a little density Had this in the basement for 10 months—the beer could have held out longer-- and turned out a good pick for review 300. A fruitiness out front in the flavor I cant define, grapes might come closest, caramel, alcohol, pine resin and smoke.

Awsome aroma as well. lots of dark malts and fruits, very rich. Real good bitterness up front to go with the luxurious maltiness . Just got better as it warmed, a truly outstanding Barleywine. Ruby-mahogany with a wispy tan head. Aroma of burnt sugar, cola, caramel and resiny hops. Light-to-medium bodied. Flavour of barley candy, caramel, orange zest, with citric hops and a mild booze heat to finish. Aside from being a bit lighter bodied that I prefer, this was a fantastic barley wine! Nose is pineapple, caramel and spruce. Smooth medium body with a nice spritzy tingle. Taste is caramel, mango and orange peel but still retaining a piney grapefruit bite. I’m not usually a fan of hoppy barleywines but this one is done quite well. Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA

Pours darkest ruby, off white head. Aroma is chewy caramel, dried fruits, honey, and bread. Flavor is the same and has a lofty body that lightly falls to bitterness. Barleywines are not my favorite genre, but this beer is drinkable and not too syrupy. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Pours a clear deep ruby with orange hues and a small diminishing creamy tan head. Very nice sweet aroma of toasted malt, brown sugar, hops, toffee and light alcohol. Flavour follows the aroma and is quite tasty. The finish is sweet, bitter and with just the right amount of alcohol. Delicious and oh so easy to drink! Medium bodied. What a fantastic beer!
