| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 8, 2009 Vintage 2007, 2 years old; got it through a generous trade It pours a dark color, almost black, with a creamy head. Intense malt aroma, caramel, chestnut honey, a bit nutty, and finally hops; perfumy, there is also very light vanilla and very light tobacco. Full bodied, it has a rich malt flavor, very sweet, almost syrupy, with sticky caramel and sweet nuts; perfect bitterness level, with some hidden hop qualities. The final is well balanced, with some warmth deriving from the alcohol, still sweet but with a darker shade of caramel. Mature, bold; it has the malt intensity of a Thomas Hardy, more bitter, even if not extreme as other West Coast Barley Wines. Lovely. Theis (3756), Denmark

Would be awesome on bourbon barrels. harrisoni (6802), Ashford, Kent, England
