DuffMan (2719), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Jul 10, 2008 Tough to compare after having the Hop Wallop! Hazy deep bronze, decent head. Sweet aroma, leafy and citrus hops. Fairly light mouthfeel, nothing over-aggressive in the hop department, an IPA that seems to have been made with 3/4 of the ingredients all around. xarcadia (9), USA does not count Jul 6, 2008 Floral aroma. Nice fruity hops on the flavor. Best IPA I’ve had in a while! HoppyGuy (111), USA Jul 6, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear medium gold color with a medium off-white head. Aroma is of citrus and hops. There is pine and citrus in the flavor, and the hops is a bit subdued for an IPA. Nice finish (I like a good bitter). I like a more in-your-face IPA, but this is still a decent brew. I’d like to pair this brew with spaghetti and homemade marinara sauce & Italian sausage. carboloader (318), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 3, 2008 Pours transparent golden with typical white head that lasts a while. Aroma is fruity citrus hops. Flavor is typical Northwest hops along with nicely dry and bitter finish. Nice malt backbone. Not a strong IPA by any means, but quite drinkable like a strong pale ale. I would buy again. BillKismet (1897), Seattle, Washington, USA Jul 3, 2008 Bronze gold with clean whiffs of PNW hops and a similarly clean, crisp palate of fresh hops with perhaps some Chinook bitterness that is enjoyable on the finish. Not as good as their ESB, but this is a very solid and drinkable APA/IPA. Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Jul 3, 2008 6/10/08 From the bottle. Aroma is almost malt forward, and more surprisingly, has an underlying acetalhyde fusel note? Appearance is clear gold with a medium maintained white head. The flavor is grassy hops forward, metallic, starchy, with very low malt character for zero balace initially that does get slightly better as the brew warms. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a moderate carb feel. Overall, this is just too harsh initially across the board, and the higher alcohol tone is way out of line, even for an IIPA. For 6.2%, it’s just plain flawed. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jun 23, 2008 650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a translucent gold color with a big white head. The aroma is mildly hoppy with clean citrus notes. The flavor is a bit mild for an IPA (at least compared to the CA IPA’s). There is grapefruit, pine and caramel. The mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side at least to my expectations. The finish is long with lingering biter hops. Overall: Fairly ordinary IPA, not up to extreme session standards. carruthm (1109), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 22, 2008 Updated: Apr 26, 2009classic IPA with a gold color and a hoppy aroma and taste. Nothing special sticks out either good or bad. Kinda thin.
