voota (761), Melbourne, Australia May 8, 2008 Pale golden with a small white head. Jammy, peachy aroma, undertones of oranges and caramel. Medium body and a light hoppy mouthful... feels like a pretty light interpretation of an IPA. Bitterness is pretty restrained right through. Nice pleasant fruity flavours, amarillo perhaps, zesty fresh finish... very nice to drink. drjay44 (758), Salida, Colorado, USA May 7, 2008 Rather light. Mild ,but balanced, hopping with a nice lingering bitterness on the finish. dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA May 5, 2008 Courtesy Buckeye Boy. Pours a light gold with a thick white head. Grassy citrus slightly malty aroma. Taste is citrus grapfruit bitterness with a nice malty balance. A really well balanced IPA that I could drink all night long. Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA May 5, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear gold with 2 finger white head. Nose is citrus and floral hops. Palate is the same, though a lot lighter tasting then the aroma indicates. More malt than hops, with a touch of resin in the finish. Not bad – kind of average. Session-able though. CaptAnkeny (14), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA May 3, 2008 Very average IPA. Otherwise a good brew when comparing to beers that aren’t IPA’s. As IPA’s go, it is so average, sort of hoppy, fruity and you can drink a bunch if you’re having more than ONE, as the old saying went.
I guess it’s okay for a cookout.
Very affordable in Las Vegas, when on a budget and won’t settle for the big supermarket beers. GG (1612), NorCal, California, USA May 2, 2008 Quite suprised to actually stumble on this beer while at BevMo. I’ve always seen Alaskan’s Stout, Amber, etc., so this was a nice change of pace. The beer poured out copperish/dark orange color, with a nice 3-finger thick off white head. The hop aroma was very floral, lots of citrusy oranges in it...easy to keep smelling this one as the citrus seems just so tangible with the aroma. You’d think if you look in the glass somewhere there oranges floating aroung. A medium bittered, citrus quality also runs across the palate, dragging with it the caramel hops. After several sips, a faint pine/grassy character emerges towards the swallow. Another really nice, highly drinkable beer from Alaskan. Beerlando (2284), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 27, 2008 Pours a clear, golden amber body with a foamy, eggshell colored head. Fairly well retained, the foam leaves behind nice flares and spots of lacing. The nose is standard fare for an IPA, showing a toasted caramel and toffee malt background with bitter grapefruit and orange hops. Flavors were again fairly standard, with the citrus notes balanced quite well by the caramel malt sweetness. Medium bodied, smooth, and finishing on the dry and bitter side. Nothing fancy here, just a well executed, easy to drink IPA. Nice brew. Skeets (23), Sacramento, California, USA Apr 25, 2008 Bottle poured clear pale gold. Minimal head. Nice hop armoa, but the flavor didn’t seem to match up. I little thin for my IPA taste, but no bad.
