Bier brauen (210), Bremerton, Washington, USA Nov 12, 2007 Pours a nice golden with slight orange color. Medium cream colored head. Nose is of citrus and resin. Very nice lacing which stays on the side of the glass. Head does not dissapate. A light bitter flavor. The body is medium, average carbonation with a long bitter finish. Very nice beer for the style. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Nov 9, 2007 22 oz. bomber bottle, freshness date in the lower left hand corner of the label, sampled in an imperial pint glass.
Poured a clear bright golden copper with a nice size foamy white head that slowly settled into a thin sudsy lacing, minimal amount of laced sticking. Plentiful supply of flowing tiny micro bubbles going from the bottom of the glass to the top.
Tamed hoppiness in the nose, floral, fruity and citrus zesty, the dry hopping is not that noticeable. A light backing from the sweet pale malts.
At first I wasn’t that impressed by the taste, but it is growing on me, especially as it slowly warms. Nice and mild northwest hoppiness, fruity, citrus zesty along with a tastes of candied citrus peel and a leafy hop oil stickiness on the tongue. Not a taste bud killer, but does have a hop prickliness in the palate. Soft backbone from the pale sugary, dry biscuit maltiness. Velvety moderate bodied feel, firm from the carbonation, goes down easy, quite consumable.
Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Nov 6, 2007 Bomber pours clear gold with bright white head. The aroma smells like white granular sugar and mild citrus hops. It seems to have the standard IPA flavor with citrus hops that run from bitter grapefruit to slightly less bitter tangelo. Also there’s some malty to bland sugary sweetness. 19641948 (492), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA Nov 5, 2007 Pours a clear golden orange color with a fluffy off-white head that reduces in a short while. Laces sporadically. Aromas of perfumey tangerine. Flavors are weak and watery. Thin malt body, mildly toasty. Hop character is muted and does not meld well with the maltiness at all. Grassy and tangerine perfume aftertaste. Moderately bitter. Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany Nov 5, 2007 Bomber from a local store. Some nice head on this one, decent flavor, not a hop bomb at all, some malt to it, Fruit, but an enjoyable flavor, good drinker, under rated OSLO (825), Perth, Australia Oct 31, 2007 [Bottle, thanks Skyview] Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma is floral hops--almost like a bad perfume, and malt. Taste is about the same, but a fair amount sweeter, and maybe with a hint of fruit--strawberry maybe? Thin mouthfeel. Not that good. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Oct 24, 2007 Light gold color. Thin white head. Lightly grapefruity aroma. It’s got some citrus and a little sweetness, but its not very assertive. Not alot going on here. Pretty boring IPA, but I dont expect alot out of Alaskan in terms of assertive hoppiness. jcr (1134), Jasper, Indiana, USA Oct 23, 2007 Dark yellow and cloudy body, small, frothy head. Citrus/pine/resin nose with some light maltiness in the background. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderatley bitter. Tastes of grapefruit with hints of orange rind. Medium body and watery texture. Lively carbonation. The finish is lightly acidic. Nice enough, but nothing beyond ordinary.
