Steib (574), Queen Creek, Arizona, USA Sep 5, 2009 Rich golden amber color, well carbonated. Tangy hoppy citrus aroma. Sweet sharpe-like flavor on the tongue. Has some white bread characteristics. Not much of a hop bite, more like a pale ale. Sits mild on the palate at the end, hops should be screaming at the back of the tongue. Not bad though. DiabolikDUB (143), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 29, 2009 Poured from Bottle into Tulip glass.
Pours a clear orange-yellow color with a finger of creamy head that remains a layer atop the glass as the beer is drank. Aroma is citrus, grassy hops with some touches of malt. The flavor is light citrus hops and malt upfront with some lemon zest and soft bitter finish. Its light to medium bodied with a nice crispness. This is an easy drinking IPA. I would really just prefer a little more hop character to this beer but the malt and the of the beer body is just where I believe an IPA should be. tokyogoat (505), San Diego, California, USA Aug 26, 2009 Pleasantly surprised, Poured on tap into a standard pint glass. Poured a bubbly sun yellow. Nose was of basic PNW hops. Taste was nice, slightly sweet but simple body, Tasted like it was just crystal 40 and carapils and then a handfull of hops. For a basic IPA its not too bad. elihapa (1033), Honolulu, California, USA Aug 23, 2009 Bottle, with screw-off top (boo). Pours light gold, clear in appearance, and with a small white head. Good lacing in pint glass. Aroma is slightly lemony, but the emphasis here is on grassy hops. Flavor follows suit: a very clean hop bitterness, matched with a spicy grass ‘n’ lemon flavor. No sign of malt (read caramel, sugar or red fruit), which is how I like my IPAs. Kind of thin, though. Overall, this is a deal of an IPA at $6.99 a sixer, but it falls short due to an overall lack of complexity and flavor. ChazMania (408), Pasadena, California, USA Aug 22, 2009 Bottled. Seems more like a Pale Ale. Only faint hops on the nose and tongue. Maybe I just bought an old 6pack? Mild bitterness but I don’t detect the citrus on this at all. I bought it as it was on sale and I had not tried it before. I should have spent the extra 2-3 bucks for some GreenFlash or Lagunitas. jetzler (622), oklahoma city, Oklahoma, USA Aug 20, 2009 Bottle, pours a rather yellow color, with a decent white head, mild hop aroma, some light malt sweetness, and medium hops, a sessionable ipa, really a sessionable IPA? hmm. Aggy360 (115), Anchorage/ Vista,CA, Alaska, USA Aug 20, 2009 Seems more like a Pale ale than an IPA. This is clear and golden with what would be called a ring of white bubbles along the glass for a head. The aroma is sweet, and citrusy; some light NW hop notes. The taste has some crystal, pale malt notes up front and then some piney hops on the finish. This is very light and crisp, an easy drinker. Light to medium-light body and mildly carbonated. I could easily drink this again but it is not quite hoppy enough. dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Aug 17, 2009 Bottle, as they were out at the brewery tasting. Very typical of the style. Over hopped and under malted. As a hop head, I can get into this, though.
