Commercial Description:
Alaskan IPA is honey gold in color with a fruity, citrus aroma. An enticing blend of hops and our dry hopping process, in which hops are added directly to tanks during fermentation, give this brew a very intense, complex aromatic character with a refreshing hop finish.

Draught, Scott’s in Oakland. Amber with a small head (well, they filled it to the rim), decent foam lacing. Light caramel and herbal scent. The flavor is pretty uninspiring. Yea, this is an IPA, but the hops are a little herbal and rough, with a weak and thin malt body. Not too bitter, but not that smooth either. I’m being hard on this one, but in all fairness it’s a perfectly drinkable beer, just mediocre in the style.

Courtesy Buckeye Boy. Pours a light gold with a thick white head. Grassy citrus slightly malty aroma. Taste is citrus grapfruit bitterness with a nice malty balance. A really well balanced IPA that I could drink all night long.

A soft cold pour produces a tall head that slowly subsides leaving sticky snail tracks and textbook lacing. Aromas of fresh cut citrus rind. Full nectar w/ low carbonation creating an almost oily texture. Wonderfully balanced and hop forward, the malt factors in perfectly never becoming sweet. Theres a tasty candy necklace component that peaks my interest. Fresh and fruity, bright and delicious. The finish is bittered well and lingers w/ fruit. A nice specimen on the mellow side.

@ Great Alaskan Barleywine Festival ’06. Good nose, sweet. Pine, citrus, honey, caramel. Pale golden orange color. Bittersweet flavor, Citrus mainly little pine. Maybe some of the caramel. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, lite bitter finish. Good easy to drink IPA.

12 oz bottle. Poured a clear gold color with a two finger white head that lingered. The aroma was earthy, with some citrus notes. The flavor was malty, with only a slight grassy hop finish. The bitterness lingered for quite a while. This was not my favorite IPA, and I probably wouldn’t have it again.

Aroma was grainey hop ,followed by a little grapefruit rind and pine needle, lighter body ,hop dominated flavor,I didn’t get the caramel malt balance that everyone else was tasting, this brew had an overabundace of bittering hops, so bitter at the finish, there was almost an acedic sourness to it,the beer is to light for that much bitterness. After I put the glass down ,my mouth tasted like I had been sucking on a lemon rind

On tap @ City Beer. Pours golden tone with full white head. Nose is bitter hops. The taste is the same. This is a very bland and boring beer. Drinkable, but only if nothing else is arouond, or if you wan’t to post more ratings :-)

Color is a bright gold with good carbonation and a tight white head. Aroma is a floral hop scent. Taste is crisp and bitter. Starting with lighter medium body it goes down with a crisp easy feel. Finish come in bitter with a nice malty grain taste. After taste is more bitterness and a floral hop flavor. Overall its a very good IPA that leans on the bitter side.
