Commercial Description:
Alaskan IPA is honey gold in color with a fruity, citrus aroma. An enticing blend of hops and our dry hopping process, in which hops are added directly to tanks during fermentation, give this brew a very intense, complex aromatic character with a refreshing hop finish.

On tap at Good Microbrew in LA. Color was a clearish dark gold. Aroam of sweet malt, caramel, citrus and flowers (just a bit of those). Flavor wasn’t really good; not nearly as good as the aroma. Decently bitter. Ok.

6/30/2007: Alaskan IPA pours a pale amber-yellow color with a lasting, fluffy off-white head. The carbonation is made up of tiny bubbles and appears to be pretty tame. Some above average lacing is also present. The aroma is citrus and pine hops with some toffee malt in the background. The flavor has some sweet toffee maltiness with a moderate level of citrus, pine, and floral hop bitterness. This beer has a medium body with a soft, smooth texture. This is a well balanced IPA that has a good hoppy flavor and a mellow palate. A pleasure to drink!

12 oz bottle (6.2% Alc/Vol; P A081807) from Yonkers65. Thank you!

0.355 l bottle at Stockholm Beer Festival 2009. Orange color. The aromas of juicy hops with orange and apricot. Orange-apricot hop flavor with toffee. The bitterness is firm but could be still stronger. Pleasant easy IPA.

Bomber purchased at the Covell Nugget in Davis, CA. Aroma has plenty of C-hops. I defintely get some cascades and centennials in there. Plenty of citrus grapefruity hop aromas along with a few pine notes. A litte bit of cereal graininess is also detected in the nose, too. Fairly aromatic. Transparent golden body with an orange tint. Relatively frothy light pastel yellow head with nice lacing. Hmm. Has a weird metallic astringency to start. Some carboard-swampy flavors come in the middle. Some modest and mostly subdued herbal and lightly grapefruited hops finish this beer. Just seems like it is lacking some bitterness and some bite. A very tame IPA, despite the promising aroma.

Bottle courtesy of jake65 - thanks! Sweet Cascades aroma, grapefruit with light peach and citric hop. Clear pale golden with a white head. Bitter hoppy taste, emphasis on the bitter over the hop. Slightly grassy and floral. Pale malt with a touch of chewiness in a medium-full, dry body. Lightly acidic. Aftertaste is long and dry. Generically bland and brawny, something of a bitter golden ale.

At the Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival ’06. Golden amber color with a big off white head. Very fresh juniper bush pine nose. Not your typical PNW IPA. Sweet malt backbone of strong candy sugar with some cereal grains and a balanced pine hop flavor. The long finish shows some more orange/citrus notes in the bitterness. Solid enough beer.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden in colour with a medium sized off-white head. Somewhat malty with notes of pines, flowers, citrus and a hint of caramel.
