Slight, bittersweet aroma, but you have to really get your nose in there to pick up much. Carbonated, bitter, hoppy taste hits hard at the start, but then fades to a very manageable piney flavor that is pleasant enough. Decent mouthfeel, though the hops and bitterness do linger a bit longer than ideal, upon taking a few more tastes, I think this is a nice offering, good enough for a barbecue or a plate of wings, but not a night of serious beer tasting. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Bottle (22oz). Hazy light brass pour, 2cm foamy/creamy white head. Sweet and juicy aroma - pineapple, mango and tangerine, some acidic resin and citrus zest. The taste is quite light - pine resin and tart tropical fruit, a little thin around the edges, nice and crisp, but not all that carbonated, a little watery and acidic in the finish. Decent, I’d drink it again - goes down easy and doesn’t pack a huge punch. tronraner (1933), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Bottle, my 100th IPA rating. Pours brass color with thin offwhite head. The aroma is citrus with some woody and herbal notes. The flavor is honeyish malts with citric and earthy hops. Medium bitterness with a somewhat dull finish. Very textbook, but easy to drink. dkoonce (888), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 17, 2009 Bottle, as they were out at the brewery tasting. Very typical of the style. Over hopped and under malted. As a hop head, I can get into this, though. Delirium (501), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 13, 2009 Bomber. Pours golden with a smallish white head. Aroma is malt with some clean, understated hops. Flavor is well balanced and also understated, a mixture of slightly sweet crystal malt, substantial earthy hops in the background, a hint of citrus, hint of yeast, and a bitter finish. Not a big American west-coast-style IPA, but not as laid-back as a British-style IPA either. Does have quite a bit of both hops and malts, and the 6.2% alcohol is completely unnoticeable; but it all manages to come across as not very bold. Respectable and well made, though. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 16, 2007 Appearance: Pours a clear, light orange-hued body with a lush, bubby off-white head.
Smell: Pleasantly aromatic nose of citrus and soap with a mild addition of caramel malts.
Taste: Juicy citrus flavors of lemon and tangerine. Only a faint hint of caramel as not too much maltiness shows up. There’s a medium bitterness which drops out for a pretty clean, light finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: It could use a bit more of everything, but as it stands it’s still a decent, easy drinking light IPA. raphael (417), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 3, 2007 aroma more sweet then hoppy, though the nose hairs know. egg whites. clear blondish amber with measly off-white head. wants to linger in the mouth a little, though light in weight. gives the tongue just a pinch. while the hops are clearly present I appreciate the malt presence, more weight than sweetness, as good grain should, cleanly. would be a great session beer, a little hoppier than most, but of a good weight & lack of lingering. The aromas of juicy hops with orange and apricot. Orange-apricot hop flavor with toffee. The bitterness is firm but could be still stronger. Pleasant easy IPA.
