The appearance is a light golden color, which is very clean in appearance. The head is a thin white collar. Flavor is very nice with a nice amount of hops, matls, spices, and a real clean taste, perhaps due to the quality of the water. The palate is very easy to drink, smooth all the way through. The quality of the water in the mix is unequaled. Excellent brew. buzzoven (333), Japan
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 15, 2008 Bottle at Paley’s Place, Portland. Beautiful tawny tan colour. Aroma of creamed caramel, malts and corn. Smooth mouthfeel showcasing exquisite balance in it’s flavour. The slight bitter hint in the finish is excellent. A true classic IPA owing more to the UK style than monster hop bombs. jsquire (2107), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 17, 2006 At the Great Alaska Beer and Barley Wine Festival ’06. Golden amber color with a big off white head. Very fresh juniper bush pine nose. Not your typical PNW IPA. Sweet malt backbone of strong candy sugar with some cereal grains and a balanced pine hop flavor. The long finish shows some more orange/citrus notes in the bitterness. Solid enough beer. heemer77 (4305), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 14, 2008 Bottle. The body was dark gold with an off white colored head. The aroma was strong grapefruit with some peanuts and apples. The taste was grapefruit with some spice. A light piney finish. A nice overall IPA that I would buy a lot more if I could get locally. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 21, 2008 Draught. High creamy and lasting white head. Clear yellow body. Dry fruity lemon grapefruit aroma and flavor. High carbonation and a long bitter aftertaste. Aquilo (267), California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 26, 2008 Lovely clear golden orange color with a fluffy white head. Smell is very sweet with apples and cherries. Flavor is weird. It’s predominantly hops, with a musty herbal taste that doesn’t need to be here. It overpowers any fruit flavor, and I was expecting a BIG fruit flavor. Oh, well. NICU (11), Oregon, USA

Alaskan IPA accomplishes what it sets out to do by providing hopheads with a good clean IPA that doesn’t wreck you and/or your palate after one pint.
Pleasant floral and citrus nose precedes a fairly dry, well-defined quaff. A simple malt profile acts as a carrier for the siganture pine and citrus hop notes people come to expect from a NW IPA.
All in all it makes for a good "session IPA" that you could drink 3 or 4 of without scraping the enamel off your teeth.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Great label art. Pours slightly amber with an off-white 3/4 inch head. Plenty of lacing.
Big hop and piney-citrus aroma.
Flavor is crisp, resinous citrus hops, sweet malt with excellent balance. Website lists IBU as 55 which is more than enough for my tastes.
Palate is average.
Overall a fine IPA, maybe a bit mild compared to some of the hop-bombs being brewed nowadays but I enjoyed this very much. Very clean, dry-bitter finish. Well recommended.
