Commercial Description:
The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

Pours a near black color with a small creamy tan head that lasts and laces nicely. Aroma is very smoky, with coffee and roasted malt and grain. Smoke does not come through in the flavor so much. Lots of the roasted grain, coffee and chocolate present. Not a bad porter.

Bottle. a nearly black beer with a small and disappearing light brown head. The aroma is nicely smokey, though the other aromas are well integrated. Some coffee and caramel. Moderately sweet flavour, light acidity and a smokiness that is not overwhelming. Medioum body, lively carbonation, quite long finish, with almost medium bitterness. Nearly at the same level of Stone Smoked Porter, that maybe is smoother than this and less smokey.

Bottle shared with Gabe. Aroma is SMOKE! Poured black with nice tan head. Taste? well lets put it this way, I dont think you can get more smoke into a bottle, alon with malt and mild hops. If you enjoy smoked brews this is the one for you.

Bottle from sleazy-eazy E. Aroma of smoke...duh... Good tan head. Taste is like standing in front of a fire and inhaling the smoke, that is as smokey as it gets. Roasted malts, a little coco and hops. Good interpretation of this stlye.. Thanks E for sharing.****Update***** 2007 bottle from sparky27... Nice smokey aroma. Taste is lots of brown sugar, maple syrup and smoked breakfast meats. Lots of campfire smoke. Light texture easy drinking. Thanks E for the bottle!

I don’t like smoked beer much, but among that variety, this is my favorite. Dark brown with a lighter brown head. Definitely smoked, but the malts and hops can be detected as well. The chocolate is submerged a bit. Probably not for everybody.

2008 version. Black with a good three fingered tan head which subsides to a ring of tan. Plentiful lacings. Aroma is smoked chocolate. Taste is big dark smoked malts with a good bitter cocoa hop finish. Some smoke in the finish. Some underlying sweet chocolate makes this an exceptional porter. No wonder this is highly rated. Very nice.
