Commercial Description:
The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

22oz bottle from Joe - Pours a nice rich dark color. Hint of coffee flavor and a bit of smoke. Great balance. Great beer.

2006 vintage. Pours dark color with tan head. Aroma is smokiness mixed with some nice roasted malts and a little bit of caramel. Flavor has that "eating a smoked ham" character to it, but it isn’t overbearing in any way. A little coffee, roastiness, and overall tastiness going on. Palate is pretty full-bodied with a nice balance to the carbonation. Pretty good beer.

Aroma: The smokiness mixes very well with caramel and roasted malt. Some coffee in there too. The smokiness is balanced, not overpowering. The finish is excellent with lots of roasted malts, coffee, a some rather quenching smokiness. Good thick mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Great balance between porter and smoked.

Drinking this one for the Biden/Palin debate. Dark brown pour, thin wispy tan head. Meaty smoked aroma. Also malt and coffee. Same notes come through in the flavor. Flavor goes from roasted malt, to smoke, to a chocolatey finish. Very tasty. Mouthfeel might be a little bit on the thin side, but is still quite nice. Tasty beer overall.

From bottle. Part of April Dayton Beertasting event. Pours black with a off white head. Sweet smoke smell. Taste is filled with malt, chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Strong effort as usual.

2007 bomber. dark dark brown pour with very little head. tons of smoke in the aroma - like a smoked salmon vibe. tingly light bitter taste mixed with the smoke throughout. finishes with a touch of sweet malt. definitely interesting - though not something I’d likely crave. k-6

Bottle courtesy of colemgm8 pours pitch black with slight, quick diminshing head. Aroma is the best smoke and chocolate malt smell you will ever experience. The first taste is really light chocolate malt and it suprisingly well balanced. Somewhat creamy with little carbonation. The ending of this beer is the best. I think I could blow a smoke ring after drinking this one. I saved this beer to celebrate the birth of my second son, born on 9-6-08. Brought him home today and had to crack this one open. Well worth the wait.

A nice pretty black in the glass, smell of chocolate biscuits. Very creamy on the tongue with a slight carbonation...very slight. Highlights on the palate: chocolate milk, cocoa, cafe latte and the finish ends with a kiss of smoke. Very easy drinking here, my friends.
