This is the first beer I’ve had from the Smoked genre. It very much reminded me of standing next to a charcoal BBQ and drinking a dark beer. The palate was surprisingly smooth and the flavors were distinct (chocolate and licorice). Very interesting brew. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA

Poureed a dark black with just a little bit of an amber hue. The head almost disappeared instantly. Smoked with chocolate and even a little bit of licorice were the main flavors. Smooth on the palate. Very drinkable beer. Bigsilky (322), Charleston, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 2, 2008 2005 bottle. Taupe head, dark body with a crimson scarf. Smoky nose. Not campfire, not harsh. Smokehouse with a slight cedary spice. Roasty malt and slight bacony flavor wraps around the rest of the leather. Smooth palate ,refreshing chocolate. Seemless body leads into a clean finish. The CO2 has diminished a little and sends this traveler towards a wine-like refinement. Excellent with Humbolt Fog, the cheese that is. Glad I waited this long. gotbeach (138), San Diego, California, USA

Great smoked flavor, been trying to smoke pork shoulder lately, and found this aroma better than anything ive made. reminiscent of chophouse smokers with... *pauses for sip* man thats good. Subtle sweet on the back of the tung, very gentle though. Its great in my humble opinion. would love to be cold breathing fresh air as I drink it. leninthedesert (112), Nevada, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Very bold in its presentation. Smoke is not overstated in its name as the flavor is smoky, peaty and earthy. Balanced perfectly by the rich, dark malt flavor, this beer is a complex pleasure to enjoy! pepsican (886), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA

Aroma is smoke, sausage, heavy malt, an caramel....Hey, I gave the flavor similar qualities, some wood and more caramel. Long lasting smoke finish. This one was nice, I always love the classic 8/4/8/4/16 for a good 4.0 beer. Tmoney99 (4805), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured dark brown with an average brown frothy head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy chocolate smoke malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Medium bittersweet roasted smoked flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Complex standout beer with 2006 the best.
