| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2008 A fine porter. Pours a dark brown almost black with a tan brown head somewhat frothy. Has a strong smoked almost burnt aroma of chocolate and caramel, almost like it was cooked on a barbecue. The flavor here is very smoky all around with an upfront burnt chocolate malt and a hint of caramel. There is a long lingering smoky aftertaste that was pleasing. This was one of the most smoky porters I have ever had. Dmalone102 (221), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 5, 2008 As almost everyone has stated; I have waited a long time to try this beer. The aroma is fantastic, if I hadn’t started drooling, I would have just smelled the beer for hours. It is very dark with a thin brown head.
The smoke flavor is not obtrusive at all, the bittering hops however, are (in my oppinion). The combination of smoke and chocolate maltiness made me sit and sip this beer for about an hour. I like it alot.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 27, 2008 2007 Bottle. Pours with a small, light brown head that reverts to a ring around the glass quickly. Aroma is of dry, rich coffee, vanilla and a touch of smoke. Taste is coffee with a nice, but strong smokey finish. Nice, creamy mouthfeel with light carbonation. A bit too much smoke for me to drink by itself in large quantities, but just fine to pair with the ribs I made tonight. IlanMan (850), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA

Pour was dark with strong notes of chocolate and smoke. Flavor was a bit more roasted finishing with a very natural smoky character. This was a very good and flavorful porter. Would buy, well receive as a gift, again. amishcaravan (239), Winona, Minnesota, USA

[thank you, After4ever!]
Pours deep red-black with a deep, beige-brown head. Light lacing. Aroma is very smoky, light chocolate and hard roasted malts. But it sure is powerful smoky :o). Fine mouthfeel. Flavour is super balanced though, still lots of smoke, but chocolate and very hard roasted malts with good hops create this balance. Dry finish.
