Nose is sublime, smoky hardwood, hints of bitter chocolate. Taste is the smoky roasted malt and a really nice piney, pink peppercorn bitterness with just a fantastic mouthfeel. This bomber lasted about 2 minutes between a few of us. I was expecting it to be much more heavy and syrupy, but could have easily gone through another one. Outstanding. gracefullypunk (324), Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 17, 2009 On tap at Collins Pub. Pours a deep brown black with a thin tan head. Aromas of candy sugar and funk, in addition to the smoke, of course. Smoke is the dominant taste, with some sugar and a bitter coffee finish. asedzie (456), San Francisco, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 12, 2009 Bottle. Pours deep brown with thick brownish white head. Aroma has grainy, slightly creamy malt scent, background is smokey - a woody, fine and controlled smoke scent. Aroma is tantalizing. Flavor is mild smoke and light bitterness, a perfect blend of the flavors of good tobacco and hearty rye bread. This is not for children folks. These are acquired tastes, and damn they are good. Light hop flavors and smokey malt roastiness in the finish. A great beer. Wish I had a keg all to myself for the next week. Where can I get a keg of this stuff? gearbike (418), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 11, 2009 Dark thin color from a bottle that cost me a lot of money. I just had to mail order this beer and was not dissapointed. I found the smoke flavor to be light. A soft motor oil feel. Some wood and carbonation. Great with any barbeque. Roasted, malty nose with dark bread, chocolate and a touch of smoke. Roasted, malty taste with notes of smoke, dark bread and well roasted coffee. Generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Slightly more than medium body, balanced sweetness. Great balance with lots of smoke, but it stills never takes over completely. Excellent beer. Wiseblood (658), Clarksville, Tennessee, USA

Intense smoked malt flavor. Hop bite adds texture along with some raisin and toffee flavors that emerge after warming. Dry finish, clean but not too smoky. Unique and very good.
