Commercial Description:
The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

2004 bottle, super thanks to EDA. Deep brown pour with some medium sized beige head. Aroma is very meaty, with some light roast and oxidation as well (although the oxidation goes well with the meaty smoke). The palate is very soft, but the flavor is also extremely meaty (bacon?), and a little salty. Some light roast in the finish.

In a trade with blackdonald 22 oz-bomber Pours dark w/a foamy tan head-looks like a Pepsi-sure doesn’t taste like one! The smoked aroma hits you right up front. Very full & flavorful-chocolate-coffee-roasted malt-sweet cherry/vanalla even, but befinately a big smoked flavor. This is a big beer with a long flavorful finish. Makes you feel like you should be sitting around the campfire sipping it after you’ve just finished the Moose hunt!! Thanks for the trade, this was a good one!!

Wow! Agent Steve was right totally reminds me of smoked salmon. I only wish I could get my hands on some Coho or Sockeye, not these days. Neat beer, glad I had a chance to enjoy it.

Strong smoke aroma once poured into my glass. A beautifully dark black with fluffy tan head, great lacing. Flavor is up front smoke and bitter biscuit malt, roasted dark malt as well. Great body and nice finish. Smoke to the end. Great beer.

1999 Draft sample at The Denver Rare Beer Tasting event during GABF week on 9/25/09. pours a deep brown towards black pour with a tan head... the smoke has diminished a lot over 10 years... dark fruit notes have really come forward in addition to some lingering chocolate... thin to medium body... very smooth and well balanced for being 10 years old... a bit roasty on the finish... Overall this vintage was a joy to try... although I prefer it within a couple years of birth... ’06 bottle. I found this in a bottle shop in Missoula, MT and have been looking forward to finding it for some time... it definitely lived up to it’s hype. Pours a deep dark brown with a 1/2" tan head... huge smoky aroma. The smoked flavor pulls through quite well... not too much and not too little.... it is really quite perfect. You can tell they really smoke these malts in a perfect smoke house. Overall, it is very smooth with a medium body... a bit of coffee and sweetness on the finish. Very drinkable and worth every bit. Highly recommended.....

So I see this every time I’m at BevMo, but always figure I can get it anytime, so not today. Someone brought this to the NorCal Tasting, and I gotta say, I loved it. It was like drinking smoked salmon covered in applewood bacon. I’m a carnivore at heart, and I love beer, so man was this a treat.

Pours a deep brown to black with a small tan head. Nice smoke aroma with some cocoa and barley as well. The taste is of smoked barley, some meat flavor, a little malt and coffee with a nice smooth finish. The smoke is really well balanced on this one as it’s not too smoky and not undersmoked. Good stuff.

2007. poured black w/ tan head. smelled very smoky and sweet. Tasted just like a porter but smoked w/ some sweetness in there. Overall I thought it was bit smoky. I have one being aged, we’ll see.
