Pours black with a hint of garnet highlights at the edges and a creamy tan head. The aroma is of a smokehouse: beef brisket and smoked ham with a light ash at the finish and sweet dark roasted malt in the background. Medium-bodied and slick with fine carbonation, it finishes with a very dry, roasted finish. The flavor is of sweet roasted malt with smoked beef brisket and peat notes coming at the swallow. Light coffee notes add to the mix, making you wonder whether this is a porter or a smoked. Quite dry in the aftertaste with a lingering smoke/peat, this is an exceptionally well balanced and well crafted beer. This would be fantastic paired with a lot of foods. I tried it with a smoked Gouda, and I think I saw God. Thanks again, Tim. You are the man. masonjer (564), Holt, Michigan, USA

I had heard this one was good so I picked it up. Poured an opaque black into the glass. Aroma was HUGE smoke, just like your clothes after a week of camping. Taste was huge smoke as well, with big roasty backbone and finishing up on a sweeter note. This was quite good, if I was a fan of smoked beers I would be all over this. fonefan (11890), VestJylland, Denmark

Pours very dark brown that no light can pass through. Slightly smoky nose that reminds me of being in Ireland and riding in the van of a peat deliveryman. Flavor is just the same, but more. Very strong smoke flavor, that I think is very overdone and shows no balance. Feel is decent, but I think overall there is no balance and the smoke completely leans it too far to one side. Low Drinkability.
I had high expectations but lower results than expected. Would only go back to this if it were a different years release.
