| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 11, 2009 Appears black, nice three finger tan head.
Scent of strong wood and some very light porter characteristics.
Taste is too strong on the smoke at first, gets a bit better and more complex as it warms.
Mouth is thin with medium carbonation.
In the range of smoked porters, I’d rather have an East End or Stone, but this is still worthy once it warms a bit.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 15, 2009 Hoo-ahh! I could drink a LOT of these! Purchased from a gas station (!) in Point Roberts, WA (where?), this was a great find. It poured a brown head of lesser size, into a very dark and impenetrable glassful of delight. Aroma was subdued but hinted of malt, however the taste was where the real business began. Fabulous but understated smokiness underlaid with coffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel was smooth and easy to drink, as was the aftertaste. MeisterBrew (138), Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA

Also chocolate, and coffee aroma is in the mix. Flavor is very nice. Smoky, but balances nicely with the chocolate and slight hint of black coffee. Very nice beer.
