Commercial Description:
The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

2006 22 oz bomber. Pours a deep brown almost black color with a small beige head. Strong smokey aroma with hints of dark chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is of smoked jerkey, roasted malts and wood chips. Smokey campfire aftertaste. Good, but not great. Was expecting more out of this one.

Bottle (2005). Pours midnight black with a modest tan head. The smokiness is rather pronounced in the aroma, coupled with malt, chocolate, dark fruits, wood and maybe some licorice. Flavor is an intriguing blend of smoke, malt, some hoppiness, yeast and coffee. Very interesting brew. I would like to try different vintages of this!

First thing you can smell is the smoke. Second is some roasty chocolate. Beer pours almost black with a bubbly white head that goes away quickly. Flavor is a little smoke first, some roasty maltiness, some sweetness, a little crisp hoppiness, and then lots of smokey flavor that really lingers. The smoky flavor coasts the mouth as the hoppy presences comes and goes. I liked this one so much that I was pretty much done with the bomber in 5 minutes. It was pleasantly drinkable and extremely amazing.

Courtesy of Tom/After4ever - thank you so much! It’s a black porter with a moderate, but creamy head. The aroma is smoky and so is the flavour, that is smooth, well rounded and has notes of licorice. In the finish I find a light bitterness and the smoke is closing the ball, just as it opened it! Nice, and if you are really into smoke, it must be fantastic. 2024

Interesting brew. Pours out a deep brown almost black color with a small off white head. aroma was smokey and very malty. flavor was kind of smokey, but not like an ash tray, with malts, fruits. Suprised at how nice it tasted. Smoked beers are not my thing.

Bottle at Chris_O London bottlefest March 07. 2003 bottle, BBE 01/06. Very dark brown/black colour with thin beige head. Dark roasted oily malt aroma. Some smokiness, touch of bacon. Chewy, tarry, toffee. Lovely. Hint of black cherry, black berry on palate. Very good, nice intensity and drinkable. Been looking for it for years and it didn’t let me down. Finished the bottle after everyone else had tasted it.

good smoky and earthy aroma, black in the middle with light brown edges, little carbonation. the flavor was not good by any means, maybe its just my palate, but I prefer a big imperial stout over this stuff anyday. wont buy it again, thats for sure.
