Jun 21, 2009 One of my all-time favorite smoked porters. I remember the first time I tried it at home, and my wife asked for a taste. SHe wrinkled her nose, contorted her face, and I told her to spit it back in. That’s how good this beer is. The only way I can describe it is like the taste of charcoal briquettes after a steak has been cooked over them. Tasty!

Jun 19, 2009 Updated: Nov 14, 200922 oz. bottle (2007 Vintage). This one was a gift from my Dad, so "Thanks Dad". Dark black pour with a little head. Essentially a very good porter with a nice, balanced smoky flavor. Not as overwhelming as something like Smoke Jumper. The smoke flavor is pleasant and pairs well with the porter. A great and certainly unique beer. Love it...I had the opportunity to try a 3 year old bottle today (11/14/2009, so that would make it a 2006 bottle). I cannot believe how prominent the smoked sausage/bacon flavor is and how that actually makes for a good beer. Really amazing stuff.

Jun 18, 2009 (bottle - 22 oz - 2008 vintage) Dark black pour with a fluffy tan head. Aroma is smoky and roasty with a good amount of malts and chocolate. Flavor is quite smoky but not overpowering. Blends well with the chocolate and the malts and leaves a light smoke finish.

Jun 16, 2009 Bottle shared with joergen and bager. Pours an opaque black with small light brown head. Low sweetness. Perfectly balanced between smoke aromas and malts. Hints of grilled sausages. Some maltyness. Álso hints of chocolate and coffee. Nice smooth mouthfeel.

Jun 16, 2009 22 oz from South Bay Drugs. I must say that smoked beers are not my style, but this one is enjoyable. Pours dark black with an oily tan head. Nose is smokey as hell- campfire, band-aid, charcoal, with sweet roast, and a dark chocolate behind the smoke. Flavor is similar, but not as assertively smokey. After the smoke subsides somewhat I get the sweetness, and the smoke actually becomes complimentary to some of the sweet flavors in this beauty. Silky and medium-bodied with a lingering chocolatey-ness. Enjoyable smoked, which before this one I thought was a contradiction.

Jun 15, 2009 Thanks to MrBunn, I get to try this. Been eyeballing it for awhile. Dark brown to almost black pour with not much head. Coffee,ash, smoke and brown sugar are present, with the taste being pretty much the same, except the smokeiness stands out a bit more. Finish reveals a hint of vanilla extract. Good.

Jun 14, 2009 Bottle with thanks to Mike. Pours a dark brownneith a thin head and aromas of coffee, smoke and sugar. Flavor has heavier smoke and a more roasted malt presence with a little bit of vanilla or cream.
