Commercial Description:
The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year and, unlike most beers, may be aged in the bottle, much like fine wine.

22 oz from South Bay Drugs. I must say that smoked beers are not my style, but this one is enjoyable. Pours dark black with an oily tan head. Nose is smokey as hell- campfire, band-aid, charcoal, with sweet roast, and a dark chocolate behind the smoke. Flavor is similar, but not as assertively smokey. After the smoke subsides somewhat I get the sweetness, and the smoke actually becomes complimentary to some of the sweet flavors in this beauty. Silky and medium-bodied with a lingering chocolatey-ness. Enjoyable smoked, which before this one I thought was a contradiction.

Thanks to MrBunn, I get to try this. Been eyeballing it for awhile. Dark brown to almost black pour with not much head. Coffee, ash, smoke and brown sugar are present, with the taste being pretty much the same, except the smokeiness stands out a bit more. Finish reveals a hint of vanilla extract. Good.

Bottle with thanks to Mike. Pours a dark brownneith a thin head and aromas of coffee, smoke and sugar. Flavor has heavier smoke and a more roasted malt presence with a little bit of vanilla or cream.

Bomber from South Bay Drugs. Pours a dark brown to black with a thin off-white head that settles quickly. Aroma is smoky and malty with notes of chocolate, ripe dark fruit, some light roasted coffee. Flavor is malty and smoky with notes of chocolate, light roasted coffee, some hints of caramel and toffee with just the slightest hint of ripe dark fruit and vanilla. Generally medium body with a pleasing malty, smoky finish.

Thanks Shawntana. Brown with some ruby highlights and a tan head. Predictable aroma of smoked malts, smoked malts and perhaps more smoked malts. All I know is this one smelled pretty good. Perhaps some light chocolate in there as well. Taste of those same smoked roasted malts with mild chocolate and a touch of sweetness. Smooth and tasty!

Bottle courtesy of cmr1517: Pour was a dark black with no head. Nose was pure liquid smoke with only a hint of chocolate malt and a bit of ash. Medium bodied brew with flavors of f’ing SMOKE! I’m shocked as to the love for some of these supposed smoked brews that don’t taste anything like true smoked product. Damn near every one of them tastes like a bottle of fake-ass liquid smoke and it pisses me off. I know plenty about smoking shit...well except malt that is, and it drives me bat-shit insane. Stop it with the smoking of beer!!!!!!!
