Bottle. Pours dark brown with a very small to non existent light brown head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, molasses and caramel. Smoke flavor hits me first in the taste, bitter coffee and roasted malt. A lot of sweetness still. Nice bitterness. Thin to medium body, a little carbonation.

Dark brown and small, diminishing brown head. Sweet aroma of chocolate and a hint of roasted malts, perhaps some smoke. Very sweet flavor with notes of chocolate and caramel. Very slight bitterness and roastiness in the finish. Medium body. Watery. Comfortable mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. Above average despite excessive sweetness.

Bottle: Deep brown core with mocha around the edges of the tulip. Sweet chocolates, chocolate chips and brownie batter make up the sweet nose. Lots of caramel as well. The body is slightly more roasty but still is saturated with sweet chocolates. I don’t get the full, chewy mouthfeel I’ve come to expect from oatmeal stouts. Maybe the unfermented sugars just overcome the oats. Good, but overly sweet.

12 oz bottle from Liquid Solutions. Pours a slightly red-tinged black with a two finger thick mocha head that takes its time fading. The aroma is muted, but coffee, milk chocolate, detergent and roasted malt all make their play. <P> Fore is lightly roasted with a somewhat nutty flavor, some grassy hops, grain husks and very mild chocolate notes. It feels very smooth and goes down nice, but I’m feeling pretty blase about the flavor. It’s not offensive it’s just not intersting.

Gift from a friend. Poured opaque black with a medium tan head. Roasted malt and chocolate, coffee aroma that’s reflected perfectly in the flavor. Very drinkable. Very enjoyable!

12-oz. Pours an opaque black with a solid layer of thick, moussy tan head that’s gone after the first sip. The nose is quite retiring; roast and coffee and chocolate there but you almost have to dunk your face to get them. The attack isn’t much more forward; medium body and scarce carb and gentle flavors. Once the mid-palate warms up a bit, though, it comes to life, with the usual suspects (roast, coffee, and chocolate) showing up. Clean finish with a bit of coffee and just a hint of sticky resin. There’s no cloying creaminess or sticky sugariness from the oats; they’ve done a nice job of keeping this balanced and just barely forward without overdoing anything. Nice stuff.

Draught. Pours opaque with creamy tan large head, good lacing, mostly diminishing. Aroma is average malt (bread, coffee, chocolate), light hops (grass), average yeast (bread) with notes of toast and tar. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity and bitterness; dark roasted coffee and chocolate flavor. Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation with a chalky finish.
