Light carbonation and heavy bodied. Sweet malty nose. Starts sweet, malty and smooth, some nuttiness, finish has hints of bakers chocolate. $1.30 for a 12oz bottle from Liquid Solutions Tigard, Or. mcnally (114), Burbank, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 29, 2006 Not bold, nice easy flavor. Not much in terms of carbonation, so it’s easy to drink. The bottle says oatmeal stout, but I don’t find this beer any sweeter than a regular stout. Flavor of chocolate and coffee comes out much better when the beer warms up a bit. Oily texture, chocolate-covered coffee bean aroma. Diminishing head. Will buy again. bhensonb (4287), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 28, 2006 Nice toasty chocolate aroma. Nearly opaque brown with a substantial tan head. Starts with chocolate, moves on to very roasted malt. It has firm mouthfeel, and it is very smooth. Perhaps what Guiness should be. I think some coffee pops up after awhile, but the longterm effect is roasted malt. A little air in the mouth brings back the chocolate. Some sweetness also appears. This is somewhat complex. cbkschubert (1983), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 21, 2006 12oz bottle poured a dark black color with a nice brown head. The aroma was roast and chocolate with a touch of coffee. The taste was heavily malted with no one malt overpowering. Nicely balanced for a stout witch is very surprising. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 9, 2006 12 oz. bottle. Pours an extremely dark brown, nearly black, and is completely opaque. Smells quite roasty and pleasant, with hints of dark chocolate and espresso. Has a full taste that fills the mouth and leaves a flavorful and compelling aftertaste. One of my favorite stouts. brownaler (379), Topsail Beach, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 2, 2006 Black appearance with some brown seen through the edges with a medium cream head. Has an oatmeal aroma with a slight berry within. Has a slightly bubbly palate with a coffee been accompanying with it. Chocolate flavor mixed with coffee in th flavor with burnt malts. Nice stout for any time of the year. Phatz (225), Paradise, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 2, 2006 This is just what a Stout is supposed to be in my book. This is a tasty approachable easy drinking stout. Believe it or not I have to thank my Dad (who doesn’t even drink beer) for bring this and 4 other Alaskan beers back from his vacation, just for me. <!-- don’t I feel special -->
Appearance: Dark dark brown almost black with a chocolaty brown head that has medium retention and fades to a nice frothy cap. The cap and the lacing last the duration of the beer.
Smell: Lightly toasted malts, coffee, and a hint of birch wood settle gently in the nose.
Taste: This is my morning mocha meets my evening stout. What a perfect light easy oatmeal stout flavor with chocolaty coffee, light oats and grains, medium/light roasted malts, and hints of molasses in the slightly coffee like body; mmm tasty! Sweet enough to find hints of brown sugar but it is bitter enough to find the hop character dancing around on your tongue as well. Alaskan Stout has it all =) for a small sessionable stout.
Mouthfeel: Small amount of carbonation leaves it feeling smooth and creamy but the hop character adds some dimension the mouthfeel leave it as a creamy medium bodied beer.
Drinkability: This is an easy drinking stout if ever I have had one. What a pity I only have two. I could drink this by the case. boy the aftertaste is perfect and enticing. WOW! I am impressed!
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!
