Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate was a bit lighter than I was expecting. Nice roasted malt flavor was well balanced against the bitterness of the hops. The flavors bcame more pronounced as the beer warmed a bit. Headbanger (1588), Aurora, Illinois, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2006 This was a good stout with a fairly sweet balance to the usual roasted bitterness. Pour was black with red edges. Aroma was light roasted chocolate and coffee. Flavor was the same with a somewhat sweet finish. Mouthfeel was oily, moderately thick, and lightly carbonated. I’d have it again, but not by way of mail order. tronraner (1917), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 31, 2006 Bottle. Pours a thick mohagany, just a shade away from black, with a thin tan head. The aroma is coffee, caramel, and well-done toast. The flavor has some noble hops up front, along with some roasty coffee and chocolate notes. It then fades to a sugary sweetness and a strange fuzziness. The finish is very smooth, for it is here where the oats kick in. There is just a passing hint of cola, then it gives way to an ashiness that holds through to the aftertaste with some residual sweetness. Ok, but I’ve had better.
