Dark red to faded black. Awesome fresh coffee nose. A little thin but made it more drinkable nice bitter taste at the end of the gulp.

This was a good stout with a fairly sweet balance to the usual roasted bitterness. Pour was black with red edges. Aroma was light roasted chocolate and coffee. Flavor was the same with a somewhat sweet finish. Mouthfeel was oily, moderately thick, and lightly carbonated. I’d have it again, but not by way of mail order.

Bottle. Pours a thick mohagany, just a shade away from black, with a thin tan head. The aroma is coffee, caramel, and well-done toast. The flavor has some noble hops up front, along with some roasty coffee and chocolate notes. It then fades to a sugary sweetness and a strange fuzziness. The finish is very smooth, for it is here where the oats kick in. There is just a passing hint of cola, then it gives way to an ashiness that holds through to the aftertaste with some residual sweetness. Ok, but I’ve had better.

12 oz bottle. Poured dark brown black with a small light brown head, fully diminished by the end of my glass with little lacing. That said, this beer gets better. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, vanilla bean, toasted grain, flaky pastry, and brown sugar. Lightly bitter, lightly sweet in the beginning. Sweetness comes on a little stronger in the middle. Flavors of milk chocolate and a wee bit of smoke. Maple syrup towards the end with a nice coffee aftertaste. The coffee aftertaste tastes better than the aftertaste from my morning jo. Medium-full bodied with a somewhat dry texture and soft carbonation. I thought this was delicious.

Bottle. Ruby black beer with a light beige head. Soft roasty aroma with some underlying sweet malt. Smooth roasty flavor with some hops in the background. Nice balance Lots of malt - caramel, coffee.

Black color; thick head. Light aroma of roasted malt. Weak taste, some malt, some roasted malt, some caramel, light sweet liquorice, but really too simple, soft.

Bottle. Pours pretty much black with an average size diminishing light-brown head. Aroma of caramel malt and chocolate -- I didn’t really get much roastiness or oats. Flavour’s somewhat dissapointing, I expected more: There’s malt, a mild sourness and light hops but I didn’t get any coffee or chocolate and it’s pretty watery and thin. Decent but a letdown.

Well, the store was sold out of Guiness so I just drank this in its place. While this is obviously better than Guiness is, it did not produce the desired effects that I wanted to match my sausge, cabbage, and potatoes. Hey, might as well eat Irish style food on St Pats. Anyway, beer is dark brown, smells of chocolate, malts, some hops, caramel, oatmeal. Tastes similar to all the smells that came from it. Very good, and I can imagine the smoked porter is probably much better than this.
