Commercial Description:
Based on the traditional style of Kölsch beer brewed in Cologne, Germany. Haines Booth Our Crew loves the chance to hook up with Alaskan fans at festivals! Flavor Profile: Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the clean freshness of Hallertauer hops. In the tradition of the style, neither overpowers the other. Both hops and malt come together to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer. History: Brewed in our original brewhouse in 1997, this beer is part of our Rough Draft series and has met success with each limited edition release. The enthusiastic reception led the Brew Crew to bring it to the West Coast as a summer seasonal. Ingredients: Water, malt, hops and yeast with no adjuncts, no preservatives and no pasteurization. Our glacier-fed water originates in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field. Crafted from Pale, Munich, Vienna and wheat malts, with Hallertauer hops and our own house yeast.

Light straw color well carbonated. Sweet malt aroma, very grassy. A light grainy flavor. A little bitter and acidic. Mellow fairly smooth on the aftertaste. A quaffable beer nothing great.

Super golden, light, crisp, watery. I drank this stuff poolside in Palm Springs in 103 degree weather, and it fit my needs rather well, but I will not be picking this up again any time soon. Im just not a fan of these Kolsch beers. I need hops. This one tastes almost identical to Ballast Point’s Yellowtail pale ale.

Really light and gentle flavor. Lacked a bit on the hops though. Definatly worth a try. This is a great BBQ beer.

12oz Bottle. To be honest, I am not all that familiar with the kolsch style, so my review might be a litt jaded. This poured a pale golden color with a fairly sizable bubbly head. that receding quickly. I was not really able to discern much in terms of aroma - some hint of malts. Flavor was very bland. Thin. Watery. There was a little musty/funky hop bitterness on back of my tongue. If nothing else, this was very easy to drink. I would say a nice summer brew.

12oz bottle from lee’s liquor: a good, proper kolsch for sure. light and fruity, low on hops per the style. a definite summer heat thirst quencher, i was able to drink a 6 pack of this in the las vegas late spring heat ;) worth trying more than once.

Poured a boring pale color (golden with slight ambernesses here and there). Head was minimal to none. Lacing was weak. Aroma was malty with light fruits. Flavor was much of the same, somewhat refreshing for the summer, but lacking anything interesting (was this really lagered? not all that crisp, fruity sloppy). However, I haven’t been blown away by any kolsch beers.

Bottle: Clear gold with a small white ring of a head. The aromas are pretty sweet malts and a bit skunky. Interesting taste, not as sweet as I thought from the smell. It is slightly tangy at first and has other flavors deodorized leather? I don’t know - can’t really nail it. The feel is creamy and fairly refreshing. There is a slight metallic bite in the aftertaste. I agree with Hoss, not Alaska’s best.
