Commercial Description:
Based on the traditional style of Kölsch beer brewed in Cologne, Germany. Haines Booth Our Crew loves the chance to hook up with Alaskan fans at festivals! Flavor Profile: Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the clean freshness of Hallertauer hops. In the tradition of the style, neither overpowers the other. Both hops and malt come together to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer. History: Brewed in our original brewhouse in 1997, this beer is part of our Rough Draft series and has met success with each limited edition release. The enthusiastic reception led the Brew Crew to bring it to the West Coast as a summer seasonal. Ingredients: Water, malt, hops and yeast with no adjuncts, no preservatives and no pasteurization. Our glacier-fed water originates in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field. Crafted from Pale, Munich, Vienna and wheat malts, with Hallertauer hops and our own house yeast.

Poured in a lager glass, Light colored yellow and slightly cloudy. Nose: malty, grassy, hops and hints of yeast Taste. Hallertauer hop comes through with a rounded malt character. and hints of yeast and grass passes through the malt character. Finish. Slightly bitter and linger for a second or two. Overall. Kolsch is not my style of beer but it was descent and good drinking..

355ml bottle. Clear golden body with a white head. A light, sweet malt, hoppy aroma. Flavor is fruity, refreshing, light malty with aromahops. A bit thin body and not very bitter, the hops is more dominant in the aftertaste. Quite pure to Kölsch style.

This beer pours a light golden color and not very much head. The flavor was a little spicy with some fruity notes. It was a little disappointing, but was also a little refreshing. Probably wouldn’t go out of my way to get this one again.

Aroma is a spicy grain scent. Color is a bright yellow gold with good carbonation and a loose white head. Taste is crisp and bitter. Starting with a light body it goes down with a crisp feel. Finish is a clean malt taste with a faint hop flavor and mild bitterness. After taste is clean with just a hint of bitterness lingering. This is a nice little summer brew. I am not a fan of this style but I think they did it well.

This one reminded me (dead on) of Pyramid’s Curve Ball Kolsch. It had a refreshing taste. Very much like a lager, but a bit fuller in flavor with a little breadiness.

From tap at Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Pours clear and golden yellow with a lacing white head. Mild spiced and light hoppy aroma. Mild spiced and hoppy flavour. Quite dry and light spiced. A bit flat in the finish yet bitter, slight spiced and mild fruity at once in a lasting mix.
