Commercial Description:
Based on the traditional style of Kölsch beer brewed in Cologne, Germany. Haines Booth Our Crew loves the chance to hook up with Alaskan fans at festivals! Flavor Profile: Alaskan Summer Ale balances a softly malted palate with the clean freshness of Hallertauer hops. In the tradition of the style, neither overpowers the other. Both hops and malt come together to refresh and renew the palate. The straw-gold color and easy drinkability are an enjoyable way to celebrate summer. History: Brewed in our original brewhouse in 1997, this beer is part of our Rough Draft series and has met success with each limited edition release. The enthusiastic reception led the Brew Crew to bring it to the West Coast as a summer seasonal. Ingredients: Water, malt, hops and yeast with no adjuncts, no preservatives and no pasteurization. Our glacier-fed water originates in the 1,500 square-mile Juneau Ice Field. Crafted from Pale, Munich, Vienna and wheat malts, with Hallertauer hops and our own house yeast.

Draft at Pizza Port, Carlsbad. A light golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of fruit, peaches, and oranges, as well as notes of vitamin pills. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of peaches and citrus, leading to a dry bitter finish. The body is thin. Boring.

On tap. Clear yellow with a white head. Lightly sweet malty nose. Medium body, sweet clean malts. No real bitterness. Very malt accentuated indeed. 080709

From tap at Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Pours clear and golden yellow with a lacing white head. Mild spiced and light hoppy aroma. Mild spiced and hoppy flavour. Quite dry and light spiced. A bit flat in the finish yet bitter, slight spiced and mild fruity at once in a lasting mix.

Clear apple juice body topped by minimal off-white head. Aroma is honey sweet, fruity, cereal. Taste is medium sweet, stronger cereal, particularly in the finish. Light body that lacks crispness.

Bottle, bought @ YNWA, Kolding.
[vintage 2004]
Pours a clear golden orange with a small, rather fizzy white head. Aroma has rye bread, sweetness and light hops. Light mouthfeel. Quite sweet with clear maltiness as well. Some oxidation, but not overly much so. It is a nice enough summer beer, but rather dull

My first Kolsch. Poured a lighter golden yellow color with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of malts and citris (lemon). Tastes like it smells (sweet malty with citris) - more on the sweet side. Fizzy body.

12oz bottle-pours a thin white head and yellow color. Aroma, in a clean pint glass, is dirty/musty glass, barnyard (a bit of the kolsch influence ), faint light fruit, grain/wheat. Taste is light fruit, grain/wheat, faint honey. Faint to mild flat/spicy hops. Light body. OK but fleeting effervescence.
