Alcatraz Belgium Trappist

Draft sampler at Indy. Poured clear medium amber with an average white head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Light bread malt aroma. Light to medium body with a creamy texture. Medium sweet flavor with a sweet finish of moderate duration. For this brewhouse this brew was better than my expectations.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy tan colored bubbles that left behind a hazy yet transparent copper brown colored uncarbonated body and a fair lacing. The aroma was uncomplex with simple malty doughy notes. The mouth feel was tingly and Tripel like from start to finish with a mild brown malty flavor.

Draft at downtown Indianapolis, IN. Off-white small head that mostly diminished with sparse lacing, cloudy, minimal carbonation, and an orange brown hue. Aroma was malty, caramel and sweet. Flavor was sweet, somewhat bitter, malty, caramel and a taste of hops. Tingly mouthfeel.
