austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA Jun 23, 2004 In Indy, this was a dry Irish stout. Roasty and dry. So so. Light hops. Enjoyable. jedimasternick (96), Tucson, Arizona, USA Nov 12, 2002 In Tempe (Phoenix) this is the Box Car Stout. It has an excellent strong scent with an equally strong taste of chocolate/coffee. A great stout for any dark connoisseur. Drew (2406), Kent, Ohio, USA Nov 3, 2002 11/02 - growler from Michigan - Medium to thick body. Strong roasted and chocolate malt flavors. well hopped - dry finish. This is listed as a sweet stout, but seemed more like a dry stout to me. Very good hennes (932), Fountain, Michigan, USA May 13, 2002 Well, up here the Alcatraz stout is an oatmeal, rather ill made: sickly and poorly carbonated with a weird, rotted berry aftertaste. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA Mar 25, 2002 Re-Rate 03/25/02Now called ’Lights Out Stout’. Not sure what ’Hennes’ was drinking, also this is the Arizona Brewery.
Deep dark brown, chocolate head, fair lace. Toasted grain nose, chocolate, caramel. Front slightly malt sweet, the middle light, the finish dry and fairly well hopped. Light carbonation, a lighter version of a ’Dry irish Stout’.
