ElGaucho (1726), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Aug 25, 2002 Surprisingly little aroma. I strained to find any hint of anything to no avail. Copper colored, thin head. Pelican did score points in the most important category, flavor. Good sweetness from generous malting. Medium hop aftertaste. There are floral notes at mid glass which are pleasant, though the maltiness may have been overdone. Still, this is a very solid brew; one that I would gladly drink again. And you can’t beat the $2.25/pint happy hour price!
patrick767 (1547), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 28, 2008 tap at Mad Anthony Oktoberfest - Pours hazy copper and has a nice citrus hop aroma. The white head is long lasting and laces well. It’s hop heavy for a pale ale and in this case it works well. This medium bodied brew is a very tasty pale ale. jcwattsrugger (4087), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Sep 1, 2008 @Indiana Beerfest-on tap-pours an off white head and amber color. Aroma is citrus/earthy hops (sterling?), some medium malt. Taste is citrus/earthy hops (sterling?), slight bitter, secondary medium malt-caramel. Finish is dryish.
Beerman6686 (816), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 21, 2008 Poured a clear amber color with an off white head. Aroma was nice citrus hops mainly, but a bit weak. Flavor is much the same, but pretty watery, like its been said,no bad flavors just weak. BOLTZ7555 (599), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jun 28, 2008 On tap @ Anaheim location...this one is 10 karat in color and has a decent hop bite in the aroma. Flavor is a bit unbalanced; sweeter than most in the style. Not bad. StFun (367), Indiana, USA May 7, 2008 Not a bad APA. A little weak, but, this beer has to appeal to the masses. Light amber in color, with a fairly good hop aroma as well. Taste is nothing extraordinary, but still better than some APAs and IPAs that I’ve had. Very drinkable and easy on the palate. Perfectly good session APA.
