Sampled at the Extreme Beer Fest. Pours a coppery reddish color. Well balanced aroma and flavor of hops, malt, fruits and caramel. Light to medium body, creamy texture. Well done.

Draft at brewpub, I am a nobody, I’m sure you don’t care what I think about this beer!

Draft at the brewpub - 2008 version - Poured a very dark ruby red in color with a small tan head. Some lacing on the glass. Aroma was initially all citrus/grapefruit hops, but there appeared some caramelly maltiness in the background. Flavor was very hoppy with lots of citrus/grapefruit and pine resin hops. Initially quite bitter, but the malts come thru at the the end. Finishes nicely bitter and hoppy, but clean and not long lasting. Excellent!

Hard to tell the color in the dark depths of the Alchemist but light filtered through as ruby. This was hopped very similar to the Holy Cow. Starts bitter and finishes sweet. I like their IPA’s more but this was good. Named after a challenging hiking/backcountry skiing trail at Mt Mansfield I presume.

Clear ruby body topped by a medium beige head leaving good lacings. Leafy hops on the nose although the taste is dominated by the malt flavours. Well malted clean body with unfocussed fruity notes including but not limited to apricots, citrus fruits, berries and even distant strawberries. Finish has some resinous hops. 8% is apparent. Not the best one I had the day I was there but I would have drank that stuff until all Hellbrooke loose.

(Rating #977)
