muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Mar 15, 2004 Draught at the brewpub. Dark, clear maple, small lasting head and nice lacing. Fresh piney nose, bit of biscuit. Hints of caramel, much more evident as the too-cold pint warms, quite bitter for an ESB, heavily yeasty (Ringwood I guess), very woody; some cherry hints, low-to-medium sweetness. Seems closer to an IPA than a bitter for me, I guess that's not surprising with 50 IBUs listed. Not bad, but not really what I expected or wanted.
