Aroma has a vegetable quality to it, lightly unpleasant at times but with enough hoppiness to save it and a sweet maltiness that comes through once it gets enough air. The palate is fairly good, medium carbonation, medium in body. Flavor is somewhat sour cabbage, some carrot, mildly bitter but after a sweet and malty front. Finish is light and almost okay, it leans towards something nicely hopped and fairly dry but gets screwed up with a couple off flavors I can’t define. Good bitterness, good palate, everything else is lacking. It gives me that malt liquor type corn flavor I’ve grown to hate. Better than the last few beers off the same shelf though. Just a touch more hops might have covered up all that vegetable yuckiness. I guess I got quite a ways to go before I kill the eastern bloc section at Topp’s because I’ve not even gotten through the first half case. Hope this one will continue a streak of unskunks. begbie100 (165), Oulu, Finland
