Nose is total malt and caramel extravaganza. Leaves grandma’s lace doily patterns on the glass. Mouthfeel is pure velvet to boot--gorgeous! Best mouthfeel I’ve had in a while. Taste is smooth, simple, and sweet but not at all sticky or cloying--finishes clean with some burnt notes. This is much better than I expected. pojo41 (315), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA

Pretty good, creamy, off-white head. Dark, sweet aroma of dark malt with minimal hop presence but, a smooth clean palate and taste of caramel. I thought this was a very good beer. Especially for the price. Pailhead (2593), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 30, 2007 Updated: Dec 31, 2007Bottle: The aroma consists of molasses, caramel, grain, and light fruit. It pours a dark garnet with some transparency when held to the light and a small off-white head. The flavor starts with moderate molasses and caramel. There is some light fruit in the middle. The finish has some light graininess. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel. Sort of a cross between a Baltic Porter and a Doppelbock. maeib (4725), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England

Lots of caramel too. Pretty sweet taste with a milky feel. Warming alcohol and smooth fruity aftertaste. Pretty nice. ako (154), Turku, Finland
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 7, 2007 Very dark, tan head. Smooth and chocolatey. Sweet malt. Feels quite thick, leaves a sticky finish. Rather decent porter. BillKismet (1941), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Nov 25, 2007 Molasses colored with an amber tinge and a full, light brown head. It takes considerable warming and aeration to tease out aromas beyond the dank hopping. Eventuall light, but pleasant notes of caramel/crystal malt and marsala play out. A remarkably complex symphony of flavors with bursts of caramel and molasses. Crystal malts and some port appear with the alcohol scarcely noticeable. Sweet and caramelly, but not cloying. Port/marsala dominates towards the end. BuckeyeBoy (1669), Boise, Idaho, USA

Medium bodied with a smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Enjoyable.
