Bottle, at London Shindig, August 2007. Thought I’d rated this before so rather minimalist notes. Deep chestnut colour. Slightly sharp, acidic aroma but sweetish caramel malt takes over on the palate, although he sharp edge persists. Some chocolate and soy sauce notes. The overall feel is a bit sweet and sour. Not bad OK but not in the upper echelons of Baltic porters in my view - give me a Koff or a Limfjord over this one any day.

App 1 pint bottle. Deep red mahogany under a substantial durable tan head. Rich malty aroma of brown sugar, caramel, molasses. Smooth with very soft carbonation and a velvety feel. Sweet dark malt flavors dominate, with a very subtle hop based bitterness right at the end. Rich and malty, perhaps a bit sweet for my tastes, but quite good actually.

brown with ruby highlights, headless, nice chocolate aroma, rich chocolate malt flavor the lingers into a long finish, big body, low sweetness, a nice rich chocolate porter, after it warms it picks up a fruity winey character

Bottle a Chris_o meetup. A simple caramel filled baltic porter. Quite ordinary.

Dark brown with a reddish hue. Light caramel and toffee aroma with some alcohol. Sweet and only slightly roast flavour.

Bottle. My first Latvian beer. Aroma is roasted chocolate with a sweet tinge. Appearance is dark black with creamy tan head. The classic porter. Beautiful lines of lacing drape the sides of the glass. Flavor is light-bodied, with chocolate and distant notes of caramel. Very easy to drink, and the alcohol is undetectable. Pretty good.

bottle 09.27.06...pours dark reddish brown...drank at room temperature.caramel doughy aroma (cookies not bread) with some dark dried fruit. super creamy fun time beer. wow, mouth feel is almost like a nitro. alcohol oozes out...flavor is reminiscent of the burnt raisins on the outside of an oatmeal raisin cookie. it’s full of maple brown sugar and even a little vanilla but some how maintains very little sweetness. nice baltic

Originally reviewed back on 3/25/04. Received 3.6 score. Added to my RB list to check "Latvia" as a beer country consumed. Deep coloring with some roastiness and also a hint of fruit. Toffee aftertaste. Average body.
