| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 6, 2006 500ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a nice tan head that stays. Sweet dark malt aroma. Flavor is very sweet malt and molasses. A bit of roasty coffee is hiding in the background, but overwhelmed by the sweetness. A faint smokiness and bitterness at the finish. Not bad if you like sweet porters and stouts, but a bit too sweet for me. Total Wine. Indra (2036), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 6, 2006 500ml bottle. Sweet and lightly burnt malt aroma, some dark caramel and breadiness with faint notes of milk chocolate and a certain vague dark fruitiness. Dark brown-black color with deep mahogany highlights, clear, with a slight, fine, light tan head. Flavor is mildly roasted and sweet, some raisin and date with ample, dark, again almost burnt sugars coming to the fore as the flavor progresses towards the finish, which also features a light, gently bitter tang and fading hints of licorice. Palate is smooth, low in effervescence and lightly sticky, with a medium body. I found this mildly interesting. Phatz (225), Paradise, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 2, 2006 Wow! What a surprise. I have never hear of this beer or even had a beer from Latvia before and this one *fantastic* porter.
Appearance: Pours a dark red brown color almost black with a light brown tan head that is thick and sticky.
Smell: The aroma is surprisingly reminiscent of Kalluah.
Taste & Mouthfeel: Chocolate, Dark chocolate malts. Rum, Kalluah, coffee; blended in a silky smooth body. Absolutely delicious.
Drinkability: I only had the opportunity to sample this beer. I am going to need to seek it out to truly enjoy this one again. It is exceptional and went down almost to quickly to document =)
Hope this is helpful.

Pours a dark, deep ruby-brown with an average size semi-lasting tan head. Nice, sweet aroma of caramel malt and some mild roastness and smoke. Flavour of caramel malt, brown sugar, molasses and a hint of chocolate -- a touch too sweet for my liking. Medium bodied. A pretty good beer, it’s nothing special but it’s still enjoyable. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 27, 2006 Bottle. Pours a dark brown body with a small white head. The aroma is kind of bready/toasty with creamish cocoa and caramel. Balanced from the beginning with nice flavours of chocolate and caramel. Some alcohol is present and it’s actually not overly sweet. Tasty. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 27, 2006 Dark brown with mahogany edges and about a finger and a half width of head. Foamy brown head comprised of big bubbles with sticky lacing. A touch of bitter chocolate amongst some roast malts in the nose. There is an almost sour, earthy quality to it. Almost some molasses notes. Woody and wet chewing tobacco hang around a touch of brown sugar. The flavors is filled with roast malts and molasses. The woodiness and earthiness are here as well. Bitter cocoa in the back ground. Thick and sweet is the body on this one. It clings to your mouth and lips heavily. The roastiness is thick on the tongue for quite awhile after.

Dark brown, medium tan head. Smoked malt, coffee, maybe even some tea, caramel malt, fresh straw right out of a barn, in interesting aroma. Lovely rich silky chocolate taste. Mouthfeel reflects this and is silky thick. Nice sweet roasty finish. A very good, very drinkable Baltic Porter. GregClow (2499), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Ruby-brown with a small tan head. Aroma of sweet, roasty malt with notes of caramel and a hint of smoke. Flavour of caramel, molasses, cocoa, smoke and dark brown sugar. Good body for the style. Not the best Baltic I’ve had, but still pretty nice stuff.
