Bottle. Pour is a cola-like brown with a bit of highlighting and a thin head that is all but gone in the time it has taken to type this. Aromas of clay, dust, cola, prunes and black cherries. In spite of the thin appearance, mouthfeel is heavy and syrupy and flavors are very sweet... almost a bit cloying. Maybe like Cherry Coke syrup (or at least flat Cherry Coke). Fruit is there, as is a cola like presence. This isn’t for me as it needs a little something (more alcohol or some more pronounced hops?) to balance out all of that sweet stickiness.

Mahogany hued beer with a fluffy beige head that left lots of stick lace on the glass. The nose had a strong raw grain note that reminded me of dried dog food, with a cola sweetness. This is a really sweet beer, with lots of cola, caramel, sweetened tea, and some white sugar. There is some roasted grain, a hint of chocolate and raisen, and an alcohol burn. It seems a little thin. I’m not a big fan of this one.

Bottle. Poured deep brown with thick lasting white head. Not much aroma, a bit of plum. Flavour is full malt, caramel, chocolate plum. Lasting silky full finish. A winner!

500ml bottle courtesy of illinismitty. Pours very dark brown with a medium beige head that mostly lasts. The aroma is sweet malt, plums, light chocolate, and a hint of roast. The flavor is a pretty good dose of sweet malt and dark fruits. There is a small amount of vinous character as well. I get a touch of alcohol in this where I haven’t in some bigger beers. The mouthfeel is silky smooth. Overall, this is pretty enjoyable. Thanks Sean.

500ml bottle served in an English pint glass. Pours dark brown with two fingers worth of beige head. Smells of cocoa & chalk. Very sweet flavor with lots of caramel and cocoa. Slick and smooth with a full body, also some alcoholic warmth. Pretty tasty if you can get past the chalky nose.

Dark brown beer topped by a lovely tight-laced brown head. Quite sticky and persistent. Aroma is a little bit plummy and licoricey with a soft toastiness and some toffee as well. There is also a bit of burnt date sweetness. Very low bitterness, but lots of rich sweet rummy flavour. Fairly charry, but not at all astringent. It’s a pretty nice baltic porter. A touch of soft vineous fruitiness on the back. I quite like this.

Tasted 6/23/08. 500ml bottle. Filtered with a deep brown hue and a ruby highlight. Spotty beige head. Sweet malty nose. Hints of toffee and burnt toast. Medium bodied with a big bitter coffee acidity. Mild hops. Good lively body. Tart and tangy. Toffee and cocoa. This is a stand up brew!
