1 PT 0.9 FL.OZ. bottle from sammy (thanks!), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Batch 1B110852. JN15/08.

App.: Very deep brown-black with a slight reddish hue and a decent tan head. Aroma: Lots of pears and hazelnuts, reminds me of a cream sherry, some raisins and figs, light chocolate, molasses and treacle, a touch of vanilla. Palate: Medium+ body, basically no carbonation, a bit powdery and slick. Flav.: More molasses, chocolate and raisins than the nose, the pears and hazelnuts are more subdued, vanilla; fairly sweet, a touch bitter, a touch boozy, with pleasant chocolate and molasses to finish.

A nice example of the style, I think.

Clear dark brown color, brown head. Sweet licorice scent. Salty and sweet taste. Smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness.

Sampled at Gothenburg Beer Festival 2008. Deep copper with medium beige head. Malty aroma with fudge, some burnt manure, and alcohol. Medium bodied and smooth. Initially sweet with a dry finish.

Not under or overwhelming, just enjoyable. A nice bit of roastiness carries you through the entire pint. A bit of dark bready maltiness with some chocolate, jammy dark fruits and a hint of licorice are present as well. Decent.

Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma of molasses, caramel, toasted malts and black licorice. Taste of caramel, bread, alcohol, molasses with a molasses aftertaste. A touch watery and the alcohol is too prevalent, made finishing this one a chore. So-so.

Decent porter. Pours a very dark brown. Light cashew nuttiness in the aroma. The flavor is medium sweet with light roasty accents.

I really enjoyed this Porter. My sinus’s were a bit stopped up, so I may have enjoyed it a bit more with a clear head. Nice roasted flavor.

Very dark reddish brown with large light brown head. Fantastic light coffee and smooth roast in the taste. A bit of dark fruit. Not too sweet. Fucking lovely. Just a very enjoyable, fairly light beer, that gave me what I wanted.
