Mildly sweet nutty malt does the job at 3%. Light bitter finish. A little chocolate, ash and a bit of cardboard. Not bad at all, for such a light beer. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2007 Color of cola except slightly hazy with a soapy white head. Nice sweet aroma. Lightly roasty with a slight hint of butter. Flavor is light an roasty. Some chocolate malts, some nuts, and ever so slight butter. Very light, a little wattery, but it has a nice tingly mouthfeel and a little lingering sweetness. This is very good. The last couple of raters must have gotten bad batches, because for a mild, this is fantastic. OldMrCrow (1192), Seattle, Washington, USA

Man, I’m with Pitonka. There’s something gone wrong here. This one pours a nasty sewage-water brown with an explosive head and a very buttery aroma. Sharp carbonated mouthfeel and a slightly sour flavor - sour like month-old water from a plastic thermos - give one initial pause, and nothing but a faint bit of toasted malt comes in to relieve the initial concern. Instead, I get a few off-flavors coming through late, again butter and a hint of bitterness.
I really wanted to like this one, but it doesn’t work for me at all. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 1.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/20 | Aug 19, 2007 Bottle: Dark caramel, slight haze, moderate foamy light beige head, decent lacing.   Looks decent.   Um... never had I said this before, but this nose smells like Betty Crocker Vanilla icing in one of those plastic containers, dead on!   Slightly buttery with fake vanilla accents.   Seriously, WTF!?   Somewhat sweet buttery roasted malt character on the tongue.   Some of that icing does indeed find its way past the nose.   How do you get a beer to smell and taste like this?   I like the icing, just not in my beer.   Otherwise some cardboardy aspects.   Mouthfeel is bordering on the thin side.   Ugh... finding it hard to drink this because its like drinking a carrot cake.   Probably one of the most unique and disturbing Mild Ales I have had to date.   Slight bittersweet roasted malt character after the finish.   WOW!?   Bad bottle perhaps?   I need to revisit...
