Dec 9, 2002 Amber color with a nice sustaining head. Cheese, horse, and barnyard earthiness in the nose. Cassis, malt sweetness, and a little barnyard. Mellow flavor impact. I was a bit dissapointed at the lack of what the nose potentialy ofered.

Dec 9, 2002 Updated: Feb 22, 2003..it had a cheese covered barnyard aroma..with rampant running horses and yeasty notes too..it was a dark amber in color and sported a solidly thick head..The flavor however was a let down..it had yeasty notes and alcohol notes..some bitterness and cherry, some plastic and acid..but too thin

Dec 9, 2002 decent overall but remember that for this style you need to know what you are getting into. if you are not prepared to smell a farm you are not prepared to drink this beer or others in the style. this one was yeasty in the aroma. the flavor was tangy, almost orange like and overall very reminiscent of a farmhouse, i dont know how that works having never actually tasted a farmhouse but that is definitely what some to mind.

Dec 9, 2002 I sampled this one at the Strong Ale Festival this past weekend. It poured a solid brown color with a minimal but mildly creamy head. The taste was purely that of a typical belgian sweet ale. A Superb blend of malts, and a slight hint of roast make this a nice brew. What kills it is just how thinly spread that roastiness is, which makes this one taste...well very thin. The sweetness is good, but the true kick just isnt there.
