Pours a deep amber that looks brownish amber in the glass. The head is big and beige and shows great retention and sticks to glass completely on the way down.
The aroma is really nice and dominated by citrus fruits, especially oranges and grapefruits. There is enough malt to be noticed and has a sweetness that balances the slight astringent burn of the hops.
The taste isn’t quite as nice as the aroma and has a milder, sweeter citrus hop presence than the aroma with juicy tropical fruits coming through, maybe pineapples in addition to a less prominant grapefruit presence. The malts lend a solid sweet backbone and the finish is not overly bitter.
The mouthfeel is extremely smooth and not as astringent as the hop profile might suggest. It’s medium to fullish for an regular IPA.
This is an impressive IPA from Ale Asylum and extremely drinkable as the hops are present but not overpoweringly bitter. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2009 Bottle from esjaygee, thanks Steve. Its an iced tea heavy IPA, I really get a lot of iced tea, in a good way (some may hate it), both nose and flavor. The lightly sweet, yet lightly green hops work great with the bulky iced tea brew. Some light bitterness throughout, again well integrated in the beer. Its medium bodied yet goes down easy. Color is dark copper, hazy, cannot see through it, seems unfiltered with the crud at the bottom of the bottle. Have no idea where that alcohol is coming from, well hidden beneath the layers of the beer. 12oz bottle, Free State willibecher glass. CaptainCougar (5517), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 29, 2009 Pours a transparent copper orange amber with a well-lacing off-white head. Aroma of fresh resiny grapefruity hops and some musty sweaty notes with a touch of caramel. Starts with decent fullness and a semi-sweet toasted pale maltiness with lots of citrusy grapefruity hops and an off-putting sweaty character that detracts from what would otherwise be a very nice IPA. zebracakes (1216), Washington DC, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 17, 2009 After finishing my taxes at the last minute, I was already going ballistic, so why not have a beer whose name kinda fits my mood. Cloudy amber-orange with a medium off white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of caramel at first then lots of hops – citrus, pine and grapefruit. Tastes pretty much the same. I notice the sweet malt and caramel right off the bat but then the citrus, grapefruit and pine take over. Bitterness wasn’t too extreme and the finish reminded me a bit of how orange juice finishes - bunch o’ gossamer at the back end of the throat. Pretty darn tasty and a nice end to Tax/Jackie Robinson day. LtJudge (432), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 9, 2009 Pours a dark amber.caramel color with a nice off white head. Great citrus aromas that are quickly consumed by the aromas of caramel malts.Flavor is of citrus hop that fades to a nice bitter finish. Seems to be just a slight malt backing, but not enough to out weigh the hop bitter. Has a medium body to it as well. This is a very enjoyable IPA! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 2, 2009 12oz bottle, no date from GeneralGao--thanks Colin for sending me the MidWest love! Clear copper orange with a small beige head, fading to a thick ring and sparse film. Pine and resiny hops up front with plenty of scorched caramel behind. Some light grapefruit shows up after nosing it a bit. Flavor mimics the aroma to a T. Bitterness peaks around a 4 in the semi-dry finish. Moderate soft carbonation with a medium body. Pretty decent IPA.
