Commercial Description:
A traditional German dopplebock. The Bamboozleator has dark caramel aroma and flavor and a long malty finish. The name pays homage to the German tradition that you should not notice the alcohol in a dopplebock until you try standing up, only then will you know you have been Bamboozled.

Copper to umber color with a moderate soft peak off-white head. Aromas of caramel, toasted malt, mild husk and hints of DMS (grain silage). Full malty flavors. Some mild metal and grain as well. Full feel. Earthy finish. A touch rough, but a solid brew.

[growler] Shared by skyview. Clear ruby pour with a large malty aroma. Flavor is caramel malt with not a whole lot more. Pretty thin mouthfeel. Overall a subpar doppelbock.

[Growler, thanks Skyview] Pours deep red with a good tan head. Fairly sweet aroma with a good deal of malt. Taste is vegetal, malty, with a little fruit and the grain really showing through towards the finish. Medium mouthfeel with a long finish, which in this case is not a good thing. Really not too good.

Thanks to Skyview for sharing. This one really is not very good. Grain aroma and grain flavor. Dark red color and a tall head. There is something off here. It doesn’t taste m’uch like a doppelbock at all, and certainly not a traditional German bock.

Thanks again to Skyview for sharing. Brown color with no head and a fresh grain aroma. The body was again sweet grains with a little caramel finish and alcohol.

The incredible Skyview lifts another impossible growler from a brewery! Dark brown color with no head. Sweet grain aroma and some chocolate. Very strong, sweet, fresh grain taste. Lots of caramel and chocolate. Very nice.

Poured from a growler; tepid thinned red. Pungent, foul canned green bean, compost, and vegetal steam aroma with a puzzling follow through of raw dark fruit sugar and nuttiness. That earthy nastiness is just opressive and unavoidable. Big wet cardboard, canned corn and compost chunkiness in the flavor; lots of overripe fruitiness of raspberry and banana in the mid palate. Palate slick, big and coating; finishes on wet, semisweet grassiness and burning earth. This is either an example gone south or one that was far past hope from the start. Thanks for sharing, Bob!

On draught at the brewery/brewpub taproom in northern Madison, Wisconsin.. Pours a semi-clear cola brown brew with a creamy off-white head that quickly dissipates to a fine film and thick off-white ring. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, some flowery and grassy hops, a touch of dark tea, brown sugar and a touch of raisin. Taste is medium to full-bodied, light carbonation with a thick malty character and very flavored with tastes of caramel malt, raisins, dark pitted fruit and a touch of chocolate. Finish is slightly metallic while the high alcohol is well-hidden, it also has some aftertaste of tart brown sugar and a mild bitterness that lingers around after the finish.
