Pours a midnight over ruby, pretty dark, near opaque except for some ruby edges, a decent light brown head that stays at a decent level, laces ok. Not bad looking. Aromas are nice bitter chocolate, roasted malts, toffee and caramel, coffee, a touch of creamy sweetness, but a decent bitter hopping on the nose. Bittersweet chocolate, roast, and coffee come to mind, but smoothed over. Initial is medium bodied, not a striking initial, but moving into coffee grounds, roasted malts, a touch of ash, chocolate comes in later, bitter, not real sweet. A more roasty stout without any fruitiness. This isn’t bad at all. Nuffield (2724), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2009 This was a delightful little beer. Rich, dark color with a moderately robust aroma, but particularly nice dimensions to the flavor--a resonant chocolate streak carrying through in a suitably dry finish. The palate is average. Went very well with Mexican food. Bottle. guyinchicago (534), marengo, Illinois, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 12, 2009 bottle from stfun... i think.
pours a normal ruby brown porter color... only darker and almost opaque. it is capped by a fluffy tan head.
lots of flowers on the nose... followed by a lactic sourness, roast, chocolate, coffee, wood and cream soda (vanilla).
the flavor is pretty much the same only the floral notes dominate everything else. it is a bit sour on the finish and fairly dry throughout.
medium bodied with carbonation which makes it feel prickly and sharp in the mouth. 7/4/6/3/15/3.5 drpimento (851), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 14, 2009 pretty good beer; one of their best, I think. Poured with a tan head and some lace. Opaque dark blackish brown. Nice roasty malty nose with a little dark ripe fruit, cocoa, coffee, a hint of vanilla and chocolate. Flavor is very similar and yet fairly dry. In spite of the richness it’s fairly drinkable. But at the same time very full flavored so other flavors in my mouth clashed a bit. Nice finish with no off flavors. Not too boozy. Label reminds me of Thailand. brewblackhole (1384), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA

Flavor is a well done blend of roasted malt, bakers chocolate and slight hints of mocha, texture is as smooth as can be,aftertaste of chocolate bakery and a sip of coffee. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 7, 2009 12 oz. bottle shared by shigadeyo. Pours a clear dark brown color with a small beige head that doesn’t last. The aroma is dark roasted malts, a touch of coffee, tobacco, and some caramel. The flavor is in line with a classic porter: roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, with a nice bitterness to the finish. Medium bodied and appears to be quite sessionable. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2009 Dark brown, nearly black pour from the bottle. Smallish tan head. Tobacco, dark chocolate, coffee, caramel all present in the aroma. Slightly bitter finish keeps things from getting muddy and allows the different flavors to emerge as dominant after each sip. Very nice lacing which lasted the length of the entire glass. Thinner than most porters, but that’s intentional, so no points off there. Just over 5% ABV, but still a fine porter option for session drinking.
