Commercial Description:
This nutbrown alte is velvety smooth with a rich caramel aroma. We blend seven different malts for just the right touch of sweetness and a creamy finish worth craving.

12 oz bottle from my GTMW trip to Wisconsin. Pours a nice copper brown, a bit lighter on the brown side, well hazed, lighter on the edges, almost iced tea shade. A moderate offwhite head that cakes and stays at that level, laces fairly well. Aromas are a good malty brown, light cocoa, caramel, toffee, a good nuttiness, faint vanilla and tobacco, biscuity malts with light florals. Pretty nice, no overbearing sweetness. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, caramel, toffee, faint chocolate, nut, raisin and a touch of dark fruit. Biscuity, a touch cakey, largely malty but nothing overbearing, faint bitterness, the sweetness steals the finish, light tobacco, coats a bit. A decent Brown Ale that has a bit too much raisin for me. Could use a touch more hop, but is quite drinkable. Cheers

9/05/2009: Madtown Nutbrown... Aroma: Caramelized sugar with a hint of butter/diacetyl. Appearance: Caramelized sugar color; dense and creamy beige head, thick lacing. Flavor: A little caramelized sugar, hints of butter/diacetyl, slightly earthy; a weird creaminess. Palate: Medium-bodied with a mellow and creamy mouthfeel. Overall: I don’t like it.

Draught at Ale Asylum in Madison, Wisconsin. Rating #59 for this beer.

12oz shorty bottle. Murky orange-brown color. Minimal oily head. Very nice sweet nutty aroma. Medium bodied, very easy drinker. Complex brown malt tastes, spicily hopped in very balanced way. Some caramel sweetness along with a nutty richness. A very nicely done Brown Ale, too sessionable to win Ratebeer accolades, but a quality product all the way. Worth a try for those into the style.

Claoudy brown, moderate off-white head. Sweet malty, nutty aroma, no hops. Moderate to light malt sweetness, nutty flavors, no hops. Medium-light body. RIght up there with Fat Tire.

Tap @ the Memorial Union on Lake Mendota - Pours dark brown with a creamy head. Smells nutty and lactic, with chocolate and cinammon notes. Num. Taste is smooth...waaaay smooth. There’s lactose, sweet mild malt, cinammon. There’s a touch of hops on the finish, but nothing that detracts from the malty sweetness. Feels great in the mouth, and would be a great beer to split a pitcher with a friend. Hey, that’s what i did.

Had on tap at the brewpub. The beer was fine and good to drink, but relatively average.

Had this on tap at the brewery. It pours a dark brown color with a minimal head. The smell is malty with a nutty coffee tone. The taste is a mix of coffee and chocolate. Very malty and rich. It has a nice full mouthfeel. The carbonation is low so it goes down really smooth. I will be picking up a sixer of this next time out.

Murky copper/orangeish color with a falling, medium head. Caramel, nutty, slightly buttery aroma. Malty flavor, but not outrageoulsy thick or deep. Lightly nutty, some biscuit. Dry, earthy hop finish.
