2008-11-12. Dark amber brown body with a modest beige head. (3+) Mild malt, lightly dry dusty tangy malt. Lightly nutty malt flavour, sweet middle, very light bitterness, light woody undertones are not lovely. Average to thin palate. Okay. Bottle shared by DuctTape

12 oz bottle. Pours a nice copper color with a small head. Some lacing. Aroma is mostly caramel, with some nut notes. Flavor is very malty, with caramel, nut, and toast notes. Kind of a buttery finish too. Palate is a bit on the thin side. Very drinkable, and I could see it being paired with a meal easily.

Thanks to hopdog for this bottle from WI. Pours a hazy brown with orange/golden notes and a medium creamy tan head that left some lacing. Aroma of caramel, nuts, toasted malt, brown sugar, light citrus notes, toffee and lightly floral. Flavor of nuts, toffee, caramel, toasted malt, chocolate notes, pine, light citrus, dark fruits and brown sugar.

Bottle and served in pint glass: Deep amber brownish hue with a moderate creamy off-white head and good lace. The aroma has notes of walnuts, caramel, toast, sugar, light raisins, and an herbal vapour. The taste is rather straight forward malty sweetness and hint of nutty background. There is a hint of bitters towards the finish but there is also a hint of butterscotch as well. The mouth feel is smooth and medium-bodied. Honestly a forgettable brew, standard stuff.

Slightly hazy dark brown with a creamy, light brown head. Nutty, roasted malt and toasted grain aromas with a whiff of hops. Flavor of sweet, roasted malt, candied nuts and a touch of hops bitterness at the end. Nice tingle of carbonation and a nice creamy palate.

Bottle, dimple mug. Pours a hazy red-brown, with scant pale creamy head. Bold toasty malt aromas, notes of apple blossom, also a deep earthiness. Not at all viscous, but a vigorous effervescence on the tongue displaces any feelings of wateriness. Initial impessions of barley, caramel, and bright coffee, followed bitterness (hops, raw peanuts), touch of a musty musty element. Smooth finish, hazelnut coffee, caramel mouthfeel. A bit lacking in harmony among the parts, but really a flavorful brew.

A cloudy, dark, reddish amber body is topped by a small cap of cream colored foam. Wet, sudsy lacing leaves minimal spotting behind. The aroma is nice, showing brown sugar, candied pecans, caramel, vanilla, and even hints of golden raison. Some perfumy, floral hops add a touch of bite to the nose. Flavors are smooth and well integrated, pecan and brown sugar working together nicely. There’s a lactic creaminess to this, as well a mild, earthy hop finish. Sweet, but not too sweet. Nice balance. The palate is a little on the light side, but very well carbonated and easy to drink. Overall, this is a nice little nut brown.
