On tap at the Ale Asylum Brew Pub. Poured a deeper and cloudy amberish color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of toasted caramel, a little nutty and some toffee. Tastes of toasted malts, lighter nuttiness, and caramel. Thinner body with lacing left on the glass.

On tap at the brewpub on 6/22/07: Pours a transparent copper brown with a spotty lacing wispy off-white head. Aroma of lightly sweet crystal malt with some toasty nutty notes. Lightly sweet and earthy caramel malty body has some full carbonation and a hint of tartness toward a thinner finish. A decent nut brown.

Dark copper color with just a hint of red. Moderate beige, bubbly head. Toasted malt with a touch of caramel and green hops. Some light cocoa in the mix as well. While not a bad scent, there is not much that typically moves me with this or many other brown ales. Some light caramel sweetness in the front. Some mild fruitiness, fairly plain and nondescript. Light bitterness comes in late quaff, with a touch of lightly salted rancid nuts. Soft on the palate. A mid line brown.

Draught sample at the brewery, mid-October 2006. Translucent caramel-maple color with a bit of lasting head and lacing....lovely nutty, fruity (cherry-blueberry) nose offers some nice caramelized malt and a bit of pungent barnyard....sweet, fairly light-bodied on the tongue, a bit oily and touched by pecans and almonds, faint sourness and lactic qualities show up late, finishes soft with a touch of sea salt....long, fairly intense aftertaste. Really solid brown ale.

Bottle. Pours chesnut with a light khaki head. The aroma is rich caramel and black tea with some almonds. The taste buttered toast with some honey on it. There is also a note of toasted almonds in the finish. The mouthfeel is full and creamy, making this seem like more than an average brown ale. Very well made, I could drink this all night.

Bottle and served in pint glass: Deep amber brownish hue with a moderate creamy off-white head and good lace. The aroma has notes of walnuts, caramel, toast, sugar, light raisins, and an herbal vapour. The taste is rather straight forward malty sweetness and hint of nutty background. There is a hint of bitters towards the finish but there is also a hint of butterscotch as well. The mouth feel is smooth and medium-bodied. Honestly a forgettable brew, standard stuff.
